Newham have not given a subsidy. As I understand it, Newham have tapped the Treasury's investment fund to put money into the deal, which they have seniority on profits on with a fixed return of about 5-6% i.e. they're getting a decent net yield and access to the stadium and get to shift loads of tickets to residents who are making a difference to the borough:

"The intention is that the tickets are used to reward residents for being active and resilient members of the community. Lead Councillors for community neighbourhoods have a central role in managing these rewards, and setting the criteria for distributing tickets to their residents.

1.32 A similar principle for distribution of tickets would be applied to other events secured for Stadium and south park events. The investment would widen the range of World class sport, art and cultural events residents would be able to access, including:
• South Park and Stadium Concerts (to be agreed with operator)
• Over 20,000 residents given free access to the Rugby World Cup Fan Zone
• Minimum of 1,000 tickets for the 2015 Rugby World Cup
• 80,000 tickets for the Paralympic Athletics Championships in 2017
• Diamond League Athletics (indicatively 5,000 per annum)"

By the way, Newham as part of the E20 LLC have been given a wider remit now which includes building a secondary school next to the community track called the Legatum Free School, which will no doubt heavily involve sports and link in with Loughborough University which is in the Here East building. A primary school is also going to be built and managed by the E20, situated on the piece of unused land on the corner of Stratford High Street and Rick Roberts Way.

In terms of a property swap, it'd be tough to negotiate given the variance of land prices between E13 and E20, but best of luck in having a go.

Perhaps you should consider a shared equity scheme whereby members can become investors ina deal in taking over one of the local pubs and turning it into the official supporters club? The carpenters Arms would be an obvious target in that respect. Investors would recieve dividends from the venture.

I'd certainly be interested in such a venture by the way.

Alternatively, all members should form a religion with worship times at 1pm and 5pm that requires the taking of alcohol and fatty foodstuffs and they'll give you a prayer room with a bar for nowt.

Pull the other one Gav. It was Newham's contribution which caused the first bid process to collapse. So they called it something else on the back of a promise of free tickets.

That quote sums up just how arbitrary the distribution of tickets will be. Typical councilspeakbollocks.

The SC should find out the value of the land and seek to negotiate a capitalisation of it to fund new premises. As you say, there us a real market for this in the absence of anything similar at the OS. They could even approach someone like Nathans, The Green Street Cafe etc to join a membership venture.

I've only ever been in there twice and didn't like the place tbh. Beer was dreadful imo. However from reading this it seems a lot of people do enjoy a pint or two there so good luck with your petition.

Just one thing though. Does the place actually get used much on non match days? If not, and I suspect most of the locals living in the area aren't regulars, then I'd guess it will be difficult to justify keeping it there. And I doubt it would fit in too well with galliard Homes plans for the site once we are away and the redevelopment starts.

This is another area the weak as f*** SAB

Were to busy polishing ego's than looking at the bigger issues and picture and let themselves be manipulated used and ultimately let down the supporters of the club

Far too many on there just let anything happen and shouted down anyone who raised any views that weren't within the clubs ultimate goals

Petition will sadly do nothing, all those business' s around the ground pubs cafes and food outlets will be history, and that area will be dead as it is most weekdays anyway

These bars doing coaches to the stadium, how long will that take, traffic to stratford from plaistow or the barking road will be horrendous week days and midweek

The loss of jobs due to the club moving will affect more than the new place generates new jobs, it will kill off an area, stratford cannot get bigger won't need to and no food drink or restaurant (no cafes ) outlets in stratford will employ any new staff , they are busy already with the shopping centre footfall

And theres no chance newham or lldc or whufc will have a business taking money from them in cheap premises within range of their baby, economics is all that matters

Members only now or so they told us before the Norwich game. Three of us members wanted to bring a guest in and were told members only, asked why and they said they had sold too many memberships so couldn't allow pay on door due to safety reasons.

Can't blame them, when I used to go in regular it got ridiculous on a match day. Going to be worse this season, people going places for one last visit.

They do allow guests in still but it is a limited number, once it reaches that figure its members only.
If you know a member who gets there before you he can buy a guest ticket and you can meet him at the door even when its members only.

I'm sure the last game was members only...and it was great. Comfortable before and after the game instead of the usual scrum.
