Save The Supporters Club - Petition
Following our move to the Olympic Stadium it is evident that that the Club and London Borough of Newham don't seem too concerned about relocating the supporters club.
I have been a member there for too many years to remember and realise what this club means to the supporters and also the local community. Its a great place to meet and talk football before and after the game, but it also caters for many local activities. This extends to OAP functions including bingo and dancing, also other functions are held there. I personally attended an after funeral celebration of the life of a life long supporter in this club, it was always his wish for it to be held there. If the relocation of the club is ignored it will never be possible for any of us to make this a wish.
The club is currently rented from Newham and it really wouldn't be that difficult for them to step in and make this happen. Robin Wales, the Mayor are more than aware of this situation but he is doing very little about it, hoping that time consumes the issue and it will all go away.
We are selling our soul with this move, embrace it or hate it, its happening. However, there are certain things we can keep and one of them is our supporters club.
Please sign this petition and we can make a lot of noise and lobby Mr Wales to ensure this happens.
If you sign, thank you, if not, thanks for looking.
This petition is being undertaken with the backing of the club committee.
Cheers

Only too happy to support this petition. In this crazy football business world you would hope that someone amongst the council and/or the West Ham board would push to reserve a few coppers from their mega millions to do this small but very important thing. I can't believe it....54,000 seat state of the art stadium, digital fcukin curtains, iconic floodlights for gawd sake (sorry), corporate ticket business to rival Chelski....and we can't look after our supporters club? Come on Dave's, come on Lady Karen, or shame on you.

Signed and shared,
There is another solution though
The SC sets up a travel club membership, hires in busses to take fans and bring them back to games.
It could work

Signed.
I also wonder how long the working mans club will last once we've moved. I've been going in there since I was a nipper.

This deserves to be in the General Discussion thread.
Or better still as a main KUMB news article.
MODS?

Totally agree and couldn't believe that it was moved into here this morning??WestHamIFC wrote:This deserves to be in the General Discussion thread.

It's a bit like a company removing logo's, advertising and contact numbers from the back of their vans and putting them on the bonnet.
Mods, any chance of moving this back to the general discussion thread to get some exposure?
Maybe I should start another petition!!!!!
(Only joking  )
Re: Save The Supporters Club - Petition
How much does the supporters club pay LBN for the rent of its current premises?
I've been told that it's peppercorn, and if so the supporters club should stay where it is and coach fans to the game. There's no way in this day and age you'd get a similar deal closer to the new stadium.

Gavrosh
Yes mate it is a peppercorn rent and no doubt that when the club is unable to break even the lease will be terminated and the building sold. There is no reason that any proceeds from the sale of the building cant be used to move the club. If they really want to do it they can, after all they managed to find £40M slopping around in their bank account in times of such austerity.
The idea of busing people in was discussed on Monday and although it seems to be a great idea there weren't many of us that thought it would last and the inevitable will happen

Re: Save The Supporters Club - Petition
Being a regular visitor to the supporters club I am totally behind this, cannot believe the club has overlooked this but ensured that the prawn sandwich brigade are well catered, a building next to our megastore which is next to our "community" pitch is the ideal location, however the best we will get is maybe a old building/pub near the ground that can be renovated as the new supporters club, I'm sure Newham Council could afford to subsidise a rent or fan power could take over and support the existing committee is setting up.
