Digital wrap now just a wrap!!
Looks like our state of the art world class LED display wrap around stadium is now just going to be a printed wrap, have the pennies run out already?
Re: Digital wrap now just a wrap!!
I'm pretty sure when somebody asked David Gold at the recent fan forum if he could have a message displayed on the LED wrap for his wedding day, their was some talk from WHU's media manager about the wrap being 'upgraded'.

Where are you getting that from?@TFSH_WHUFC wrote:Looks like our state of the art world class LED display wrap around stadium is now just going to be a printed wrap, have the pennies run out already?

Think of all those disappointed kids who are no longer going to see their jester hat wearing boats enlarged onto the stadium exterior like they were promised in the reservation centre..
The one thing I have never liked about The Olympic stadium is how it looks like such a temporary structure from the outside. I thought the digital wrap was the perfect solution to that problem. It's very disappointing if true.

Lots talking about it on Twitter, David Gold not denying it just saying we will be proud and Jack Sullivan saying that we don't need a digital wrap but we will have a great wrap.

Re: Digital wrap now just a wrap!!
Surely like with a candy bar the wrap is secondary, what's inside is much more important, innit ?

Please donate any leftover Christmas paper to Mr Gold c/o West Ham Utd .

Is this to do with money or the environment agency worried about the fish?
What a bloody shame, was looking forward to seeing the stadium glowing at night.
Would’ve been a real head turner, especially with the thousands of train’s passengers passing though. Good way of reminding new or old supporters to buy tickets.

Surely this would have to do with the transformation costs having skyrocketed already
Such a piece of jewelry doesn't come for free
Perhaps in due time? Still though, it is slightly disappointing not gonna lie

I've actually never liked the digital wrap idea, something more permanent that cannot be removed at the 'flick of a switch' is far more welcome in my opinion.
I'm assuming that it won't be feasible to take the wrap down every time there is a concert or other.

Not sure I mind wether it's a digital, non digital or even left as is, but do find it strange that the much heralded original decision was changed.

You can blame the roof. The weight of that has forced the digital wrap to be scrapped as the additional weight would be a safety risk.War Pony wrote:I find that difficult to believe. The LED mullions would lightweight - Design and access statement here:

the link doesn't work so i don't know what it says but the above is the case regardless.
Re: Digital wrap now just a wrap!!
Extra work was done (to the tune of over £30 million) to strengthen the superstructure ahead of installing the roof. Populous's computer programmes would have told the them the extra stress on the superstructure from the (relatively lightweight) wrap and whether it would have been within acceptable safety levels long before it went into planning. Additionally, no mention has been made about not having the wrap, which had now got planning permission, apart from Jack Sullivan and Gold and no mention was made about stress on the structure, that would have been the easy option. Instead their comments alluded to the poor quality of the wrap. So can you suggest any evidence to back up your suggestion?
