Re: Boxing thread
I just can’t see him standing up to the power of the “Super” HW’s, who currently hold the belts.
I think Parker would be a good first step into the division for him though, would do well over here that fight & be a good gauge for how Usyk will fit in...

Re: Boxing thread
It will be interesting to see how he adapts. I’ve seen him box Joe Joyce’s head off in the amateurs, who is a genuine super heavy, but obviously the pro ranks are very different.NorthBankAlliance wrote:I just can’t see him standing up to the power of the “Super” HW’s, who currently hold the belts.

Re: Boxing thread
I wouldn’t be massively surprised to see Joshua fight Usyk in 2019 rather than Wilder or Fury. Easy fight to make for Hearn and Sky.

I bet you lot can't wait for David Price vs. Tom Little on the Whyte vs. Del Boy undercard.

Re: Boxing thread
Three months after retiring with an 'injury' in his last fight he'll be in the ring again, something not quite right about that of you ask me. If Tom Little causes Price problems he has to retire. A Price v Sexton rematch is what I'd have liked to have seen.

Re: Boxing thread
Rosales v Edwards on the undercard on the 22nd is massive. The winner should definitely fight Andrew Selby, who beats either in my opinion, he's already beaten the Champion, Rosales, once.
The winner of Price v Little should fight Dave Allen in 2019, I think it would be a good match up.

Re: Boxing thread
I was shocked to see Frankie Gavin come in massively overweight again, and then gas after a few rounds because he is a lazy, fat ****er.

Re: Boxing thread
Gavin has to retire now, Lejarraga is seriously badass though, he's surely going to get a big fight soon, he looks hard as nails and can bang, incredible conditioning too.

Re: Boxing thread
Sounds great, sicknote.
Buglioni loses in the 5th TKO following a bad cut to his right eye.
Yafai wins by UD 117-111, 116-112, 116-112. Thought it was a lot closer than that.
Michael Hunter, the smaller, more athletic man, KO Alexander Ustinov in round 9 for the WBA international heavyweight title. Hunter took the fight at eight days notice, I gather, but Ustinov was awful.

Re: Boxing thread
Ustinov is finished but Hunter could be one to watch, one defeat, to Usyk, where he caused him a lot of problems and went the distance, is nothing to be ashamed of, and he can box.

Re: Boxing thread
Lebedev bt Wilson UD 117-111; 119-109; 119-109. Simply a different class to Wilson.
—-
Bivol bt Pascal by UD 119-109; 119-109; 117-111. Bivol dominated throughout, too fast, too strong for Pascal.

Re: Boxing thread
I watched the Ustinov V Hunter fight. Hunter KO's a massive guy, but that said he (Ustinov) was slow ponderous, had no stamina and no real power. At 41 he should hang up his gloves. Hunter was ok, but atm he would be no match for anyone (Fury/Wilder/White/Joshua etc) and I think the announcer called it right: "He wants to win the North USA boxing belt in honour of his later father - then he will drop down to cruiser weight - and if he fights Usyk, he'll get killed.
Lebdev looks quality though and beat the White Delight easily. Lebdev V's Uysk would be a fight worth watching.

Hunter has already fought Usyk once, giving him arguably his toughest fight of his career to date.WHU Independent wrote:I watched the Ustinov V Hunter fight. Lebedev would get sparked out by Usyk I think, the size difference combined with the way Usyk operates would prove too much, but I do rate Lebedev, he's decent enough. The cruiserweight division is looking very healthy at the moment.

Re: Boxing thread
Getting really excited about Fury vs Wilder. Fury has already got in his head. Hope he hasn’t lost too much weight. Think there’s a very good chance if he can last ten rounds he’ll utterly frustrate wilder. Who will become more and more reckless... and dangerous... think it’ll be ten rounds of wilder trying to unleash a bomb before being worn down himself - picked apart and broken. Tko fury wins 10 rounds.
This might not happen if fury is too thin and simply blown away in round one.

Why? He's an English fighter, really charismatic, seems a top bloke, from humble background, his fighting style is a bit dour to watch but effective.NorthBankAlliance wrote:Buzzing for the Fury hype train to end!
