A Tom Smith goal halfway through the second half was enough to secure Huddersfield a crucial win over Villa in a tight and scrappy game for a nice single 1.95 odd win.

You are both right......sort of imo...Centre Half wrote:Wish you well with this but not for me. Maybe if it rains...
7/2 looks massive to me. Given a mention of "soft" in Thursdays going report (and it being an authentic soft) ..... that will be a huge price.
However, forecast looks very dry and reasonably mild.......some rain forecast for Sunday but nothing else.
"Soft" will definitely be in the going description for Tues........it always is. It will be good to soft on the opening day
I think they are going to have to water at some points during the meeting, especially later in the week, and quite possibly quite a lot of watering, if the forecast is correct. Could get very quick ground later in the week otherwise and that would leave them open to criticism should horse safety become a talking point. The loss of any horse is magnified at Cheltenham and they have done lots to stop it happening..........so they won't let it get very quick.
Even with watering. it could and probably will, be good going by Ryanair day........And it's probably why Un de Sceaux is 7/2.....and not a lot shorter.
What is Michael Fish predicting ? ....

I don't doubt he's a horse with a lot of ability, but for me the question marks are whether he stays the trip.davids cross wrote:

I know he has won over 2 and a half miles in France but that opposition really is questionable. The only other time he has gone over an extended two miles he was beat 15 lengths.
I think he would be much more suited to the QMCC but of course Mullins isn't going to put him up against his stable star Douvan now.
I'll be siding with Empire of Dirt who we know definitely stays the distance. Second in the reason Irish Gold Cup beating two decent horses and thoroughly stout stayers in Don Poli and Carlingford Lough.
Also a course and distance winner at last years Festival so we know he doesn't mind the track

Re: Official Betting Thread
I don't think it will be a problem CH............he is so powerful over 2miles.. Always strong after the last. He doesn't fade even off a really, really fast 2m pace, sometimes the pace that he has created himself.Centre Half wrote: but for me the question marks are whether he stays the trip.
But he settles now, not a tearaway like he was.........he can sit in behind if need be.
Given they won't go as quick as a 2 mile championship pace . His distribution of energy will be slightly different. But he never gives the indication of fading in 2 mile races.
To my eye..............he is a very strong 2 mile traveller. Not one that just about gets that trip.
More worried by the ground really..........Each to their own though. You might be right...

-2.40pts
screech called a tight first half correctly, with both teams going in goalless at Half Time, but had no luck for a Manchester City winner in the second half as they failed to break down a very organised and solid Stoke side, with very few clear cut chances..

Just a heads up, through a combination of being busy at work and not fancying anything in the Europa League, it is very highly unlikely I will be picking anything today.

Your pick is whenever your pick is. Doesn't need to be daily
Cheers for letting us know.
