You're probably right it's fairly easy for many to dislike Habib as not only is he Russian, he's also Muslim and up until this fight we'd never been shown much of him other than him fighting a chained bear when he was 6 years old and training in Dagestan which to many, especially in America would appear to be be "Borat" country. However it's clear for all who wish to see that he's not only a tough and skilled fighter, but also a highly principled, honourable man who cares deeply about those around him and doing the right thing by them. Should he get the opportunity to fight Conor again I'm certain even more people will be supporting him next time.

Respectfully I disagree. Too many people are considered "humble" just because they are quiet and not outspoken. He's associated with far too many scumbags for my liking, his manager is vile. He's got a few screws loose, but Ferguson is the uncrowned champ of LW division imo

Weidman Jacare was FOTN last night would suggest trying to find replay. It's sad Weidman is one of my favorite fighters, served him once at a restauraunt but think he is past it now. He's had a horror list of injuries and serious surgeries, including his neck.

I always found Jacare annoying and a bit cringe with the gator walk even though he is one of the best ever to have not been given a title shot, mainly because of politics. Proper fair play to him to have the awareness in such an intense fight for not smashing Weidman after the knock out after the ref inexplicably didn't stop it even though he was obviously done.

I think the prolonged beating he took from Rockhold and specifically the horrific Romero knee affected him greatly, which it would to anyone. Still a solid top 10 but hard to see him winning the belt again.

not a bad card at all last night..

some good fights in there with some excellent heavy hitting (not a heavyweight on the card) and good submissions..

bloody hell, no posts for about 3+ weeks despite there being some decent fights..

okay so this weekend:

Max Holloway vs. Brian Ortega
Valentina Shevchenko vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk

as the two tops fights....

others who could be decent but these catch the eye.

any thoughts from the regulars ?

(other than me of course)

I like Holloway, but Ortega’s on a real tear at the moment, and the way he dismantled the super-durable Frankie Edgar has to make him the hot favourite here. That he’s pissed hot previously takes much of the sheen off his run, unfortunately.

I see Ortega outboxing Holloway by dint of being physically stronger.

Shevchenko is a huge favourite over Johanna, rightly so. I make her the best athlete in all of wmma.

that was a cracking nights fights !!!!!!!!!!!

I was surprised that Holloway beat Ortega so "easily" really........

absolutely battered him...

Schevchenko won on a "unanimous" decision ...Joanna gave her the best she had but wasn't close imvho..

some good under card fights too......Gunnar absolutely ripped Oliviera open....

that Santos Manuwa fight was hell for about 6 or 7 minutes....how either one stood up after some of those punches landed......

Cyborg/Nunes this weekend......

any thoughts ?

fight maybe moving to California due to Nevada not licencing Jones.....

This time that drama materialized in the form of an ‘abnormal’ USADA drug test result, one that found trace metabolites of oral Turinabol in his system. USADA released a statement claiming this came from Jones’ original drug offense in July of 2017, but the Nevada commission refused to sanction Jones’ UFC 232 fight on December 29th against Alexander Gustafsson.

not a new positive then ?

The UFC stinks.

Instead of banning him, they try and move the fight, but don't worry about the fans that shelled out to travel and stay in Vegas..
