Re: Tennis Thread 2016 - Aussie Open
Djokovic breaks again at the crucial point of second set, unless Murray can break straight back and force a tie-break, he will be 2 sets down and staring defeat in the face. Djokovic is just relentless - in this sort of form, he is almost unplayable. Murray has dug deep in second set but still coming up short.

Djoko is like a machine. Just finds another gear when he needs to when his opponent thinks he is getting on top.
This will be all over soon.

Solid from Murray, still a huge ask but if he can nick this set , might chuck a bit of doubt into Djokovic mind.
Unlikely though, self doubt doesn't seem like a big issue for Djokovic

Much better in the second and third sets but still Djokovic marches on relentlessly to another Grand Slam title.
Murray is the best of the rest, but Djokovic is streets ahead of everyone.

There's no shame in losing to Djoko.

Possibly the most amount of unforced errors I've ever seen from Murray.
Maybe because of the pressure Djokovic applies

This. I've said before that I believe Djokovic is the greatest sportsman on the planet and this match shows it again. Murray raised his game to a stellar level in set 2, his first serve was much better than i've seen it, yet the ball just keeps coming back. Any other player would have been crushed by Murray in that set.White Goodman wrote:Murray making a game of it this set. The problem is to match Djokovic, people have to play at an insane level for most of the match instead of in pockets and that is so hard to achieve.
You just cannot get on top of Djokovic for any period of time to get ahead. You might break him once but he just digs in another gear. You keep landing a left hook but instead of him laying on the canvas he is still jabbing away at your face.
I want to dislike him for what he keeps doing to Murray, but really you can't help but be in awe of him.

Honestly believe Djokovic would beat Sampras most the time. I'd fancy Murray to do well against him too.-DL- wrote:

Big claim, maybe worthy of its own thread that one, I'd personally have gone for Mayweather but it's personal choice I guessBend it like Repka wrote: This. Re: Tennis Thread 2016 - Aussie Open
Just watched a fantastic match between Novak Djokovic and Kei Nishikori - really was fantastic standard but Novak always seems to come through at the end. Still should be Murray's best chance to beat him for some time tomorrow with Novak having a marathon quarter final and semi final where as Murray breezed through.

Murray running into form at exactly the right time. Brushing Djokovic aside in straight sets in the Italian Open final.
Expect a final between these two in the French Open

Watched the 2nd set after the footy, Murray looked as good as he's ever done , the match winning point was bonkers .White Goodman wrote:Murray running into form at exactly the right time. Brushing Djokovic aside in straight sets in the Italian Open final.

A surprise for sure, but he'll still batter Murray if they meet when it really matters.OFT wrote:

I must confess that after watching the footy and finding Murray winning 1 set to nil I was expecting the second 1-2 defeat of the day.

Murray in the brown stuff in Round 1 against Stepanek, a set and a break down. Needs to pull it together sharpish
