Posters on my Saints board are quoting this tweet, no idea how reliable it is:

" Anthony DiMoro‏ Verified account @AnthonyDiMoro 3h3 hours ago

#Saints sign Tedd Ginn. Brandin Cooks to #Patriots being finalized "

We turned down their offer of 32 so I wonder what deal is making the Patriots favourites?

Wow Osweiler traded to Cleveland!

Kind of works both ways. Cleveland get a 2nd rounder and can dump him next year assuming he's **** and the Texans thank their lucky stars they get rid of that contract.

Very smart move by the Brown's. RG3 is done and off the bill. Osweiler's guaranteed money coming to an end.

They've essentially just spent 8-9m on a 2nd and 6th pick

That's phase 1 anyway.
This is The Browns....theyll find a way to balls it up!

I think I love the Browns.

There are so many teams I like for the way they play but just for their history of abject failure I think I like them the most.

Have you seen the documentary about the move to Baltimore? I swear they looked on the verge of getting to a Superbowl with Belichick in Cleveland.

^^^ the Cleveland 95 football life? Great episode. Amazing to see how many current NFL/college coaches and GMs were in small roles in Cleveland in that time.

I love the trade, especially as they are apparently dumping Brock and going after Garrapolo with the extra picks, but it is dodgy as f***. There are rules preventing picks being bought in the NFL and I suspect the league office won't be too happy about it.

Isn't Brock guaranteed 16m this year so it is 16m and a 4th for the 2nd rounder and a 6th?

Is Brock going to be paid but still end up without a team?

Looks like it might be done...

Garrapolo on instagtam...'so grateful for my time in New England. Peace out Boston'

Edit... he was hacked...carry on.

Yeah, after the Texans took the hit for the fat end of his guaranteed salary.
Talk of RG3 and his $6m-$7m being done and dropped, so it's about an $8m outlay for it all.

Shrewd.

Are the players in the first round of the draft pretty much guaranteed to be good?

Not at all! RG3 and Johnny Manziel will attest to that.

Jamarcus Russell...

In theory there is more chance they will be good. There is a reason why they are first rounders obviously but nothing is certain. Plenty of major busts and late round/ Undrafted steals.

No, although this year the first dozen or so picks are seriously talented.

I'm excited about the Browns going forward. We're building the right way. Just need to nail the QB. Garoppolo for me. The draftable QBs are so overrated it's ridiculous.

Or just tank for one more year... Sham For Sam

"Saints have re-signed Fairley and signed Ginn Jr., Klein and Warford"

Now that's what I call a great start to the season.

Nailed on that Cooks will leave now but to where?

Very suprised over the Cooks trade. Genuinely through the it was all talk that benefited both teams. Quite like it...especially if NE recoup the 1st through trading Jimmy. If Hightower resigns (big if) New England are looking great

That offense is unreal. Cooks stretching the field and splitting the safeties, Gronk destroying the intermediate level and seams, Edelman cleaning up underneath, and the backs working the flats. Not to mention Hogan, Mitchell, Allen and Amendola or Floyd in the rotation.

Unstoppable.

From a Saints perspective I can't say I'm overly chuffed with this trade.

We get 32 and 103 & the Patriots get Cooks & 118.

There's still rumours that Butler might come to the Saints but couldn't be added to this trade due to him being a restricted free agent and not under contract.

I really hope that rumour of us turning down 18 is false.

So apparently that 118 we just sent to the Patriots is being forfeited due to deflategate (Their highest 4th round pick) but they now get to keep the previously forfeited 132.

Why the hell didn't the Saints try and trade that 118 to 130 or 131 and try and get an extra pick???

We really got screwed on this trade.

^^ not sure I understand that... how would the saints get 131 (guessing that's a falcons pick). Can't imagine anyone will be trading up and down picks until draft day.

To be honest I think it is a trade that benefits both teams. Saints have so many holes on D that need to be filled , so the extra first is obviously useful.

Honestly don't think the Saints could have got much more for Cooks. Cooks is good but he's also pretty inconsistent and Michael Thomas is the man in NO now. NE get a pacy, deep option which they've not had for a while.

Yes we have plenty of holes in defence but we only gained pick 32 essentially for a WR that has had back to back 1000+ yard seasons and is still only 23 - that's about the same age as many that are entering the draft this year and how many of them will guarentee 1000+ yards?

Mike Williams seems to be the most highly rated WR in the draft and seems to be listed as a top 10 pick, will he be better than Cooks is now? Williams is 22 and about to play his first season, Cooks is 23 about to start his 4th season and has had back to back 1000+ yards.

My point being Cooks was worth more than the last pick of round 1 and a 15 place jump later on.

Pryor in to the Redskins and Jackson out to the Bucs, with Garcon already gone to SF.
