Essex going great guns against defending champions Middlesex.
Cook and Browne have put on 345 for the opening stand (a new Essex record), while Middlesex were all out for 246.

Game over. Won by an innings and 34 runs. The current Essex side are looking good although a long way to go to match the side of the 80's.

I was there. Sensational. A win in the last over. Harmer taking his ninth in the innings and his fourteenth in the match....for the second match running. I have not been so happy since the night we sunk the Spuds!!! It was that dramatic! :D

The club put the last two overs on Periscope, and I must admit I was pretty vocal when that last wicket fell!

I heard they maxed out at 2600 on Monday. Rained all day Tuesday. I was there on Wednesday and Thursday. I would say about 25-30% up on the previous week against Warwicks. You have to consider that we now have a really good team and great entertainment. Last night was just sensational.

Having only just become a regular I can tell you that the place is rigid with Hammers! Many long time ST Holders so I feel well at home.

I went out last night after work with 7 wickets yet to fall. Got out the theatre, looked at my phone and couldn't believe what I was seeing. What a signing Harmer has been. If the unthinkable became a reality, it would certainly put the disappointment of bottling the one day cup semi out of mind.

Mate, I too was absolutely gutted when I heard about this.

TMS will not be the same without him.

One of the last links to the past gone from the airwaves. Thankfully Blowers still has 3 tests left with us before retirement.

Gary Ballance and Liam Dawson?

This stinks of 'jobs for the boys' from Joe Root.

I can tell you now what will happen with Gary Ballance, he may well do alright this summer but as soon as we get down under he'll get worked over on the back foot like he has done time and time again.

Actually I forgot how much Morkel loves bowling at left handers, that will probably happen this summer.

Liam Dawson? Not even the best spinner at his county

Give him a chance to develop properly.

In 1st class cricket, Dawson has better figures and he can bat a bit too, so far better suited to the test team at the current time.

To be fair it took about 6 balls. Made me very nostalgic today seeing the Chef wafting outside off stump and GB getting pinned lbw as usual.

Top stuff though from Stokes, Root and Moeen.

Horrific looking injury to Luke Fletcher in the T20 match tonight at Edgbaston.

Got smacked on the head by the ball being smashed back at him on his follow through.

Medics ran out straight away.... players all looked shocked, game delayed.

Photo of him in the ambulance sitting up with oxygen but awake and giving the thumbs up. Feared the worst when it hit him....the ball went about 10 foot in the air off his head. Hopefully he'll be fine.

On a lighter note Freddie, Bob Key and Cork on the commentary
