Team GB for team of the year.

Murray has to win though.

No chance. Little Leicester winning the Prem? Could argue that was the single biggest team achievement in the history of British sport.

At the bookies, both Leicester and Murray are 1/6.

You can get 8/1 on Alisdair Brownlee (gold medal and brotherly love) and 6/1 on ANY GB Olympic team.

I'd put the Paralympic team above the regular Olympic team based on them finishing 2nd (and the dark clouds gathering over our cycling team).

Nominations this year are an absolute joke. Embarrassing for the BBC. Or at least, they should be.

Carl Frampton should at least be a nominee

Knowing the BBC, I'dd have a cheeky punt on Murray, Sarah Storey and Kate Richardson- Walsh in a tricast.

Ticks all the boxes and they can feel super smug about how inclusive they are

Where's Itoje, for starters? Carl Frampton? Froome? All had better years than Adam Peaty.

Nicola Adams for a woman's boxing Gold is laughable. Nice lass and all that, but a pitifully uncompetitive sport. Olympics is way over-represented this year. Not a single member of England's unbeaten rugby team?

Froome could win the overseas award.

Adam Peaty has been utterly immense. Took stupid amounts off the world record numerous times and was so far ahead of a world class field at the Olympics that it was barely believable.

Sad how Froome winning the Tour de France is no longer seen as such an amazing achievement. It's certainly a lot more deserving than some of the other nominations.

Regarding the rugby, I suppose it's difficult to single out one player.

It was good back in the day Bubbs, when BBC had all the sports clips and you had a different section for each sport, Football, Rugby, Harry Carpenter doing the boxing round up and then a motor sport section with Murray Walkers "Colmanballs"..Loved it as a kid, its all a bit too "BBC" for me nowadays, bound to be a Womens football section FFS.

There is no way either of the GB olympic teams should win team of the year.

They dont really compete together as teams, they are individuals covering many different sports who train and compete as individuals, there is no real teamwork there (apart from the funding maybe).
The term 'Team GB' is a recent one as well, as is the constant reference to the medals table.
The Olympics was always about one person taking on the rest of the world, apart from maybe the relays, the show jumping(team event) etc.
now if our 4x400 meter relay squad had won gold and knocked 5 seconds off the world record, they would have a chance (as well as a full scale investigation).

I've always had issue with this competition as it has absolutely nothing to do with personality.
