Woburn tomorrow
9am tee off.. marquees course (members course) where they hosted the British open few years ago
Followed by lunch
Then 14:30 18 holes pairs event on the dukes
We have booked buggies for all 20 of us because of the heat and playing 36 holes
Going to be epic!
Played the dukes and duchess before.. looking forward to playing the last of the 3

Played the 36 holes
Marquees’ 29 points winner had 32
Dukes was 34 points
We all much preferred the dukes
The marquess has some interesting holes but doesn’t have the magic of the dukes.. especially the 3rd (par 3 massively down hill)
Long long day
Left home at 05:30 got home 21:30 lol
Even with a buggy I walked 8 miles lol

Re: The Golf Thread
Had a right weird round today. Went out in 53!. Couldn't hit it straight, couldn't chip and couldn't putt. At the turn I said "Sod it, the round's gone, I'll just swing the club and see what happens". I came back in 36 including two birdies and four one-putts. On the par five eighteenth I was through the back of the green in two, all down to just swinging it with no tension and no expectations.
Bloody strange game this golf.

first 18 at woburn. I was solid off the tee.. slow swing with driver .. not explosive distance but fairway 50% of time (stats on the gamegolf) and rest was first cut
first 9 of second 18 I couldnt hit a drive at all.. short and left.. hitting ground
second 9 just closed the face and swung it right trying to play a hook.. banging them straight again lol

Re: The Golf Thread
I played for the first time this year at a place called Crews Hill on Sunday.
I went round in 93 and I'm well pleased with that. Especially as my putting was awful. I had a lot of 3 putts and a couple of 4.
But I chipped in twice for birdie, both with a 62 degree wedge. The first was just off the green but I had to go over the edge of a bunker and it landed perfectly and rolled 15 feet straight into the hole. I celebrated like we'd won the cup.
The next birdie was from a bunker and it was easily the best bunker shot I've ever played. From a full swing the ball came out beautifully and went about 20 feet before again rolling in a straight line to the hole.
I had a couple of putts for birdie but it was too hot for faffing about lining things up so didn't really give myself a chance.
I could have easily scored mid 80s and I'd have been delighted with that.

Re: The Golf Thread
Completely forgot that Sky lost the PGA Championship rights last year. Not on any normal TV channels this time round, it's only on a website, Eleven Sports. Not even highlights on normal TV
f*** online streaming services, Netflix, this b*llocks etc, all it is is another thing to pay out for. Load of ****.

fair play! that's some achievement . two on the same hole? is it like crazy golf that hole that if you find a certain zone it will just feed to the hole the odds of a hole in 1 in the same hole in the same day must be higher than the lottery!

Like the 16th at Augusta, where they put the pin at the lowest point of a bowl on the Sunday. 18 eagles so far in the Masters on this one.mumbles87 wrote:...................................................

Re: The Golf Thread
Had a lovely round at Blake’s yesterday
40 points in a friendly knock. With a blob
Course was in ok condition. Green were being worked on so either bare or bobbly .. but we were told before hand so that’s ok
£15 not bad took us 3 hours 15 mins in a 2 ball with no-one in front
Highlight of round is either both of us nailing our tees on the 8th onto the island green
Or both on 14th (after a par) smashing our tees up the hill.. my game golf had mine at 282 yards. A new record

Re: The Golf Thread
Wednesday was a bit of an annoying one
I had to start work at 15:00 in east finchley so agreed to tee off at 10:00 Hainault
met at 9 for breaky.. monsoon rain.. forecast says will clear up at 10
at 09:50 everyone gives up and says lets go moby golf range.. soon as we got there it stopped ofc..
so we played a simulated round on the range then 9 holes over crowlands
19 points with a blob
however word of warning to anyone playing crowlands at the moment . its in awful condition. unfortunately during the hot weather they don't have any fairway water systems so it just burnt. now its growing back patchy.. it was like playing off bare lies all round really or clumps. greens weren't their normal standard either
best to avoid for a little while until the grass repairs
