I've scored 5 points for a birdie a couple of times and even that feels a bit like taking the p*ss!V-M wrote:Also means ANY gross birdie is worth 6 points

Re: The Golf Thread
Always a good sign keeping the same ball!. Fortunately gone are the days of having to pack a dozen. Normally lose 2-3 at most now (largely due to water).mumbles87 wrote:First event of season at chelsfield lakes in orpington

This ball didn’t want to be lost
One hole I was unlucky to just drop into some water
Walk up to it.. clearly in the hazard but on the bank lol

Re: The Golf Thread
18 holes same ball = usually a good round, fair play
So, been sort of bullied into going out tomorrow (glad they did as looking forward to it now), dusted everything down, cleaned my shoes (I really should clean them before putting them away for the winter - the smell was just lovely).
Been lovely/dry & warm for this time of year so course should be in good nick.
I expect to play like a lemon as I have no natural talent and I have to get in the "swing" by playing, so telling myself already not to throw my 5 iron into one of the lakes...

Is there a range or a net? I find a few 7 irons can really warm you up nicelyClacton-ammer wrote:18 holes same ball = usually a good round, fair play

Playing Hainault lower on Monday before work .. see if I can make that ball last again
Ironically only blob I had all day was when I pulled the wrong ball out my pocket (number 22 not the lucky 00 I had been hitting) just caught lip of a bunker next to green (turned out to be wood no wonder it bounced oddly back) wedged it over green then back into bunker on return
Number 22 was thrown into the bottom of bag and 00 back out for 3 points on the next hole lol

Re: The Golf Thread
Yep Mumbles, going to hit 50/100 balls to warm up first, not sure if that is a good idea or not
Will report back on Monday, hopefully my report will not be that I need a new 5 iron as I "lost" it.

Re: The Golf Thread
I've stuck to the adiboost range by Adidas, probably the most comfortable shoe/trainer I have ever worn. They have come down in price a lot now the newer versions are out so might look to replace my old pair for the same shoe.

My Adidas 360 Traxion (I think), the only pair of shoes I have, have done around 200 rounds and are still going strong.
Re: The Golf Thread
See I don’t like wearing white shoes in the winter as they get brown lol and I refuse to wear black shoes with shorts I always wear white.. well unless I crack out the orange Nike’s!Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:My Adidas 360 Traxion (I think), the only pair of shoes I have, have done around 200 rounds and are still going strong.

Re: The Golf Thread
They do indeed get a bit grubby, but there's no real point in cleaning them after every round as they're muddy again walking to the second. White laces two feet too long don't help either.
As for orange shoes, I'm nowhere near good enough to carry those off, same for fluffy headcovers

Re: The Golf Thread
Played most of the round Saturday in a polo shirt, crazy for end of Feb
Done ok, was a bit hit/miss with my irons, driving was surprisingly good, putter was a bit off, pretty much what I expected before the start excluding my driving, which was a pleasant surprise.
I was sensible for a change, slowed my swing down a little and took an extra club, just to get in the swing so to speak, so I didn't "lose" my 5 iron either, was lovely to get out there again.
