Rose fifteen feet away in three, Garcia ten feet away in two.

It's his to lose...

... Two putts to win the Masters :scarfer:

I still think Ginge's celebration at the whistle yesterday was better

It was meant to be.

What a cracking battle that was - possibly the most popular Masters win since Nicklaus in 1986.

Brilliant Sergio, I've wanted him to win a major for so long as he actually gave up golf for a few years after so much disappointment. So pleased for him.

Can't begrudge Sergio winning over Rose. Chuffed for the bloke.

What a magnificent final round that was, especially the back nine. I thought Garcia was toast on the 13th and Rose already had one hand on the famous Green Jacket. Somehow though from a poor tee shot Garcia was able to scramble a par and, on a hole that Rose had birdied all three previous rounds, he only managed a par so instead of falling possibly 4 shots behind, Garcia was able to keep the gap down to 2 and that was indeed a crucial turning point. Over the next 5 holes they traded blow for blow in gladiatorial style - it was a fight to the finish and the quality of the golf was out of this world. Both had putts to win on the 18th but neither made it - I still don't know how Rose's putt stayed out but perhaps the golfing gods, on what would have been Severiano Ballesteros' 60th birthday, were looking down and decided that yes, it was time for Sergio to finally win a Major.
Absolutely chuffed to bits for Sergio and fair play to Justin Rose - he knew that Sergio was the sentimental favourite but he gave it his all and the two of them played out the final round in such a wonderful spirit. Great to hear the crowd chanting Sergio's name at the end.
Well played Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia and a marvellous Masters with Sergio finally becoming a Major winner - well deserved and long overdue.

Delighted he's stuffed these words down my throat! What a battle that was!

Really pleased for the guy. Maybe the monkey is off his back now. Who wants to bet he goes on to win a couple more in the next few years?! :)

So, a magnificent tournament comes to a close. Congrats to Sergio for finally winning a major at his 74th attempt. He must have thought it was never going to happen so fair play to him for showing the resolve to win it in sudden death. The last few holes were an amazing battle between him and Rose which produced some spectacular golf. Massive respect to Rose for his humility in defeat - a class act.

Right, onto the comp:

Three players correctly predicted the winning score of 9 under - CRFC Hammer, Hessa and yours truly. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for any of us to make a dent in the leaderboard.

OK, top 3 in reverse order.

3rd - 14 pts Jhammers
2nd - 16pts Monkey Mike

and our winner by a massive 5 shots is Row X Having both Rose and Garcia and every player making the cut sealed the victory. Very well done.

Full scores and places:

21pts - Row X
16 - Monkey Mike
14 - Jhammers
13 - Chicken Run Supreme
11 - Twixy
10 - HammerDivOne, SammyLeeWasOffside
9 - Raggy
7 - IronStu, Stringey
6 - Chimera, RARS, CRFC Hammer
3 - NtHammer, Hessa
1 - Rio, SoulCircus
0 - Mumbles87, Westhameggyandchips
-1 - JohnnyByrnesBoots, Psychoscoredthelot
-2 - Bango
-10 RichardHCook

Thanks for playing everyone. Be back for the Open in a few weeks...

Thanks again SC for organising.

I also had a fiver each way on Sergio at 25/1, it was nice going to the bookies earlier to collect £160 :scarfer:

How good was that back 9 from both Garcia and Rose! They were just trading blows at the end, was great to see the sportmanship between the 2 as well.

Thanks for doing this souly.

As it's golf I assume a negative score is good, right?
