All set for a Ferrari victory this weekend I think.

Depends on how Mercedes get their tactics. If Lewis can do his usual mega lap and get pole, they may be able to dictate pace and do just enough. Think it could be a case of the Ferrari getting stronger at the end of each stint as Merc use their tyres quick.

Could be an exciting last few laps with Lewis holding off a faster Vettel.

Think this is going to be a good one.

Lewis v Vettel, can see a proper race on, this is a reasonable track for overtaking.

Well done Bottas, first pole in F1.

Makes things even spicier for today.

I wonder if Vettel has a real advantage in the title race this season.

Bottas is going to take points off Lewis, but Kimi, who should have retired by now in my opinion, looks well behind Vettel on pace, plus Ferrari love a team order.

Will Merc have to change their thinking later in the year?

Well that didn't take long for the first example to show up. Hamilton was the faster driver out there today, but his race was compromised by Bottas's pace and having to pit behind him.

I thought Hamilton's 5 second penalty was a bit harsh tbh. Mercedes need to sharpen up on their tactics and strategy - Vettel won that race with his first pit stop - getting the jump on Bottas and Hamilton. Would things have been different if Lewis had a better start? Maybe. Would things have been different without the 5 second penalty? Again, maybe. Unfortunately in modern F1n the fastest driver does not always win the race, however, it looks like this season will be a good one.

One footnote - poor old Fernando, he aint loving F1 right now -

Team Radio: "We're going to Plan B now "
Fernando: "Do whatever you want "

Alonso...

“It was a frustrating race. The deficit in power and performance we had on the straights today was amazing. Sometimes I looked in the mirrors at the beginning of the straights and saw the other cars 300, 400 metres behind, so I forgot completely about that car and started changing settings on the steering wheel and doing my own things, then the next thing I see when I come on the brakes is that car alongside me. We were running close to the points but that’s not enough. Today we never had the pace we had in Australia and China, and, in the end, we had a problem and we decided to retire the car.

“It’s frustrating. When the red lights go off you’re motivated and you start fighting, but you’re so behind on the straights that there’s no way you can defend your position. You fight in a fair way with everyone, but you don’t enjoy the battle.

“Everyone in the team has been working very hard over this weekend, day and night, and I’m sorry for Stoffel who has had so much bad luck all weekend and then didn’t even start today’s race.

“But we’ll keep working hard, and we hope to improve in due course.”

and that's the official version!

Honda seem to have gone backwards this year.

There will be a lot of falling on swords at this rate.

I'm not even sure their reverse gear works!
