Test Cricket Eng v SA @ Lords

Post by sutts07 »

Anyone going???

Managed to get a couple of tickets for day two through work and really looking forward to it. Never been to a packed out Lords, any tips on what to take, how much booze I can get in and where to go for beers and food would be welcome!

No tickets, but I read Mike Atherton's preview of the series the other day - he is just the most magnificent sports writer in the game at the moment, and it really put me in the mood for some good summer sport.

Lords is a fantastic ground with a lot of history, make sure to give it a full walkaround, either get there early or make sure to have a good look around at Lunch. Good luck getting any booze in, they are pretty hot at checking bags, they only want you paying £5+ for their beers. Have a good day - weather looks spot on!

I went to Lord's last summer for Pakistan test.

They are actually the only ground in the country that let you bring beers IN.

Max of 4 though.

I've only tried to get test ticket a couple times, for the ashes. You go into that ballot, and then don't get the tickets. Later that same day there's dozens on ebay for a monkey.

They'll be needing something similar to win this series, which I can't see this summer.

This is right, 4 cans or a bottle of wine max. Took prosecco last time I went to fit in with the members!

Should have reviewed for the 2nd.

Philander is a very tricky customer. The 2 openers were all over the place against him.

Ballance out trapped lbw. His tendency to stay back in his crease and get pinned is still there.

New summer, same old top order issues. 49-3.

Shock horror Gary Ballance fails again, all the while pietersen is sat in the stands watching.

Stop the bull**** about not getting on with team mates and pick him to bat at 3/4. Ridiculous the way that he has been ostracised

Sorry but calling for the return of Pietersen is ridiculous.

That ship has well and truly sailed now, Pietersen has played as many first class games in the last year as I have.

Agree Ballance is a liability though, imagine those feet staying still down under on those quick pitches and Mitchell Starc running in

No KP chat please. He's finished.

Philander has been brilliant this morning. We're really up against it now.

Ballance averages 100 in the CC this year. If you're not going to pick the players showing the best domestic form, what's the point?

Only because of the stubbornness of Strauss and Cook. Cook is no longer captain so there should be no obstacle to him not coming back.

He's easily in the top 6 batsmen available to England at the moment. Bat Root at 3 and KP 4. Middle order problem solved for the ashes.

Also no problem picking on form but Ballance doesn't and has never batted 3 for Yorkshire. Better option would have been Stoneman to open and Jennings at 3 whilst Hameed finds his form.

But best option available to England still remains bringing KP back in from the wilderness
