Re: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather
I'm actually completely sick of this now, just watching for Cleverly on the undercard and to see a load of mates. GGG v Alvarez is one of the fights of the century and this b*ll*cks has completely ruined the build up.

I know they've done a few press conferences and WWF style things in the ring too.
I don't know how many, where, or how each are training or what each are wearing.
I don't know what's been said, who said what, what reports have been happening, who is getting paid what nor any other details other than there's a couple of popular fighters - from different disciplines - having a fight on the 26th at a time which involves painful eyelids.
I don't see how hard it can be to distance yourself from it all and just watch the fight, let alone consume so much of it, that it ruins your enjoyment for a completely separate fight.
If most of what you've seen has been from the Sky Sports News Channel, then what else did you expect?
Do people still seriously watch that channel?

It is incredibly good value. You get to bet on one of the finest boxers of recent times, who may be slightly past his best, against someone that has never had a professional boxing match before, at odds of just under 1/3. That is amazing value. Only the sheer level of corruption in the sport is preventing me selling the children and a kidney so I can get more money on it.Whufc06 wrote:Sick how?

I'm not coming at this from any great knowledge (nothing new there)EvilC wrote: It is incredibly good value. You get to bet on one of the finest boxers of recent times, who may be slightly past his best, against someone that has never had a professional boxing match before,
In fact, when Homer Simpson fought Drederick Tatum, I thought Simpson would win inside 3 rounds..
But, my general thoughts would be as Evil sees it. Might be quite busy early on from McGregor, but ultimately the boxer should win comfortably. And he was/is no ordinary boxer.

"One shot is all it takes me!" definitely, 100%, he's proved that in his boxing career, his boxing career that hasn't started yet. Dickhead.
Cleverly v Jack on the undercard, a Brit defending the WBA Light Heavyweight title, and nobody gives a f*ck!

Would be even less competitive than the boxing leg.3Dicks wrote:I look forward to the second leg when Mayweather steps in the octagon.

Sky have got people hooked in with this as they always do
The problem is the boxers/pundits they use aren't fans of the sport anymore. They barely sound like they do research for the fights usually, just turn up and blag it. A bit like Redknapp and co do for the football. Froch, Nelson, Smith, all useless.
Like 90% of Mayweather fights I have set my 4am alarm for, the result is a forgone conclusion after a couple of rounds. Only this time it's a bigger mismatch.

Re: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather
If McGregor is disqualified, will he lose a % of his purse?
I still think he will get so frustrated at not being able to touch Mayweather, that he will end up launching a flying knee into Floyds swede.

Mayweather's team reckon it's in the contracts that he won't see any of his purse if he does something like that.

Re: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather
I can visualise this as a very drunk man (McGregor) swinging his arms around at a stone cold sober man (Floyd) who just stands there and ducks and weaves a few times before getting bored, then laying a large right hand on said drunk man's chin and him collapsing in a heap out cold.
If this fight goes further than 2-3 rounds it will only be because Mayweather feels like it, or McGregor manages to stay upright somehow after being punched the **** out of.

Hmm. He's knocked out some pretty formidable fighters, albeit under MMA rules. Nobody expected him to ice Aldo the way he did. I didn't, anyway - bloke was a stone cold killer, and McGregor made him look like an amateur.

No, but there's no doubt he can hit hard and with uncommon accuracy and timing. By MMA standards, at least.Hammer1972 wrote:So you think he has a chance?

Don't think there will be, this is was billed as one of the fights/evens of the year etc, and there is still tickets and hotels rooms for sale, don't think this is as big as they hoped

Re: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather
I think so many people are absolutely convinced that Mayweather will win that the hype just isn't there. I think there was more hype about the manny pacquiao fight.
