Up to 3 years I believe if it goes to Crown court, or 6 months from a Magistrate, but more likely to get a fine and community service I'd have thought.

Surprised its taken so long for the CPS to get its arse into gear on this. Must be an Aussie leading the investigation.

Easy to get off with as well, just give the Steven Gerrard line of it was self defence....****Loftyhammer wrote:Stokes charged with Affray then....anybody know what that means in terms of potential sentence?

Anyway, what happened to innocent until proven guilty? We are the only country that takes a smug moral high ground on these cases.... "Our best player? Let's ban him before any trial and make up everyone's minds that he's guilty before the trial even starts. Also, let's ban him from a tour of our biggest rivals, even though he still hasn't been proved guilty yet"
If the roles were reversed, the best Aussie would have been playing in that series just gone.

Still one of the most transparently crooked miscarriages of justice in modern times - 3 blokes kicking the **** out of someone in "self defence".Slacking student wrote: https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... ict-affray" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ben Stokes available for England selection - ECB
So whilst he was not charged he was banned, now he's been charged he can play... If he gets found guilty I imagine he'll be made captain.

Absolutely ****ing ridiculous. What is going on at the ECB? It's being run by clowns.

Re: The Ashes 2017/18
So he can play now as to not prejudice the upcoming trial - fine, but why couldn't he play in the first place? Surely that's prejudicing the investigation?

Re: The Ashes 2017/18
They had no plan. Unless they've killed someone I think players should be able to play until the court has decided.
It's one of those situations where the ECB are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. If they had just stuck to one thing that it would have made sense. Stokes, like many people, can't handle his drink by he looks of things.

3-0 series win with 2 to play. Losing Plunkett was a major blow, impressive win. Good to see Woakes find some form with bat and ball.

Re: The Ashes 2017/18
Wahey! We done a win.
Seriously though, surely the ECB should look to keep Bayliss on as the limited overs coach and get a new man in for the Test format. He’s clearly a better ODI coach.
Said it before but Wood and Rashid should of played in the Ashes (yes I know Wood was injured for a while.)
Here’s hoping we can win the final two games, we’ve looked very impressive so far.

Re: The Ashes 2017/18
Not a tongue in cheek comment by any means. Bayliss clearly knows how to pick and structure a competitive ODI. Its obvious now that the opposite applies for the Test format of the game.westham, eggyandchips wrote:

Now to the ODI/T20 series that we'll probably win.

Re: The Ashes 2017/18
That was great entertainment this morning. Buttlers innings was one of the best you'll ever see. Took responsibility and then opened up when we were in a competitive position. Woakes wasn't too shabby either.
We really are a force in one day cricket. Bayliss was bought in to sort this lot out and he has done a great job in that respect.
We'll need to find a place for Stokes (today's injury to Plunkett in game showed how much he is needed)... it'll be a hard decision to drop someone. I'll have to be one of the top 3...

I am sure Wood would have played had he been fit - however you know my thoughts on Rashid ...he wouldn't be performing as well as he is now had he been sold down the river by playing the testssteps wrote:Wahey! We done a win.

Woakes - top stuff
Poor captaincy from Smith for me... they had us and let us off by taking Cummins and Hazelwood out of the attack when they were at their most potent. Too conservative... just bowl someone out if there is a chance of taking a team for less than 50.
We should certainly lose from here... but it will be interesting to see if Wood and Woakes can extract anything close to what Cummins and Hazelwood did
