49 is no age. RIP to a wonderful tennis player, and by all accounts, a lovely person.

Sad to hear this news today. When she lost the 1993 Wimbledon Singles Final to Steffi Graf she created one of those iconic sporting moments as the Duchess of Kent gave her a shoulder to cry on that will live on for years to come. RIP

Oh, that is sad, so young really. I remember her playing at Wimbledon, the 1993 final of course, the 1997 final and when she won it in 1998. RIP.

Indeed it is one of iconic moments, and very sad. RIP

Absolutely horrible news. 49? No age at all.

I'm getting deja vu here. I thought she was already dead.

I had absolutely no recollection of doing so, nor do I recall her passing. In my defence, my second daughter was born a few months before that date and we decided to get a new kitchen fitted that month. Also, I appear to have Alzheimers.

I'm glad it is not just me that is like this.

You should worry, I announced Doddy 's death 4 weeks early.
