Alonso does seem a real pain though. His behaviour at Mclaren 1st time round was shocking, I'm amazed they took him back.

When you look at Lewis and Vettel they are very careful in how they talk about their own team's mistakes.

He's a great driver but clearly no top team wants all the **** he brings.

Alonso effectively retired when he went back to McLaren anyway.

^^^ Yes, by all accounts they were not best buddies at Torro Rosso and Red Bull will do whatever Max wants it seems.
I know Max is seen as the next big thing in F1 but Ricciardo's treatment by Red Bull is pretty shabby. He outperformed Vettel in his first season and has outperformed Max each season, including the current one so far. Not surprising that enough was enough, hope he sticks it to Red Bull and leaves them as their highest placed driver for the 4th season running.

Anyway, back to racing with the best race of the season this weekend, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

Spa this weekend

By far the best track in F1, and one ive had the fortune of going to a few times

Quali today should be a belter, ferrari look very quick but mercedes have pretty much been one paced all 3 practice rounds, which is typical for tgem when sandbagging for quali

Bottas will start from the back with an engine penalty so lewis ix a bit exposed

It always rains over spa weekend, this mornings F3 had a wet drying track but no rain during, but it has to rain due to its geography and micro climate, if it does then only one winner if its during the race , lewis

If you ever go

Walk the 4 and a half mile track over the weekend , stand at eau rouge and look up to the top of the curves at raidillon as the cars go through flat out, incredible speeds, get a seat at les combes and during any race watch the cars come up the hill get the tow and overtake at the top of the straight

Walk around the next few bends rivage and the following bends down to stavelot and its like a downhill rollercoaster , then its full throttlee all the way to bus stop in some scarily fast turns like blanchimont

Its also a great and beautiful place set in the Ardennes forest , surrounded by history from many battles over tge years, the gerrys used the place as an ammunition dump and it was key to a lot of allied forces, as were the surrounding villages bridges , well worth a trip for the history and the track itself

Well that was dull.
Vettel's Ferrari looked like it could have overtaken Hamilton at anytime and once in front it was game over. A disappointing race, rain would have been good. Mercedes need to practice their rain dance.

F1 is so much more interesting when it rains, I don’t know why they don’t structure the calendar to target the wet weather.

Yep crap race

Silverstone today saw the motoGP cancelled and tge riders all complaining of a dangerous ashphelt surface that doesnt dry and they did not want to race after a bad accident yesterday, the drainage and new surface didnt like the uk weather this weekend

But F1 needs to create better races, we have has some good ones this year but today was vettels from the overtake at les combes

Lewis was purely on engine saving mode as he is close to a grid penakty if he has a new unit, and he will get a penalty as that enging he has is his last one, no idea where vettel is on engines, that i think will be the decisive factor now, reliability or more engine management, we may not see lewis or vettel attck the other from now, we may though see valteri and kimi used to attack whilst vettel and lewis conserve engines

Could be odd not seeing proper racing, but that F1 so many rules stop the drivers going for it either tyres engine penalties etc etc

Italy next and monza

Great first half of the race. Ferrari seem to have found the edge over Mercedes.

Monza will be another Ferrari friendly track, which will make things interesting.

I hope I'm wrong but reading into yesterday's post race comments from Toto Wolf and Lewis pretty much seemed to suggest they're already throwing the towel in for the rest of the season. Obviously it could all be part of the kidology that goes on in F1 and Mercedes may yet have something up their sleeve, but I also think that sicknote's post won't be far off the mark with the rest of the season being a battle of wits around engine management. If that is the case I fear Ferrari will be better than Mercedes at that game. Mercedes need to forget about no team orders and get fully behind Lewis in the same way Ferrari do with Vettel. I really don't want to see ze German winning a 5th title before Lewis.

As for Monza, not so sure it will be a definite 1-2 for Ferrari but can only see a Vettel victory.

A big shunt for Marcus Ericsson today. Veered left into the barrier slowing for turn one, spun and barrel rolled. But he’s OK. Marcus Ericsson Escapes High-Speed Roll | 2018 Italian Grand Prix (YouTube)

Is Vettel still really blaming Hamilton for him once again losing it under pressure?!

Vettel is doing a great job once again of chucking the championship away making rash decisions. Whereas Hamilton is showing his class and experience and thought he did an excellent job today.

Also Verstappen really needs to put his toys back in the pram.

Great drive by LH today. It was accompanied by some good teamwork too though.

Total opposite from Ferrari, who made a complete hash of the race today. Only Kimi came out of it with any credit.

Listening to Vettel on C4 highlights - so delusional. Hinting that Lewis was at fault, German cry baby. The Hamilton hate on the BBC, these people, really?

Don’t know why Vettel didn’t just back off. He went left, Hamilton went right, edged in front, had the line. Vettel could have backed off and with a faster machine had a go later in the race, it was after all only the first lap of 53. But, no, he chose to turn into Hamilton.

As for Verstappen! Bottas did well to control his car after that bump.

Vettel has the Schumacher mentality of if your main rival is going to pass you, the best thing is take him out, and hope you are less damaged than him, he knew what he was doing and went to take hamilton out, he was already sulking about Raikonnen beating him to pole, and him giving kimi a better tow than he got off of Lewis

Verstappen is dangerous, might be goid to watch but dangerous, if Valterri had anouth go he would have taken him out again and laughed about it, precocious talent but immature and dangerous, kimi, seb Valterri and alonso dread getting involved with him
