Re: Masters Thread with Prediction Comp
Rory hit a glorious shot on the second to set up an eagle putt then missed from four feet. Still only one behind though. Set up to be an exciting finish.

I can see neither of them winning this.. they are having a battle to see who can muck it up the worstSoulCircus wrote:Rory hit a glorious shot on the second to set up an eagle putt then missed from four feet. Still only one behind though. Set up to be an exciting finish.

Speith on a roll at the moment, out in 31. He's the danger man...mumbles87 wrote:I can see neither of them winning this.. they are having a battle to see who can muck it up the worst

Id say Speith to win the grand slam before rory right now.. he only needs 1.. but when he won his first major rory only needed one.. has stalled since then

I watch almost no golf aside the Ryder cup and the last round of the open and the masters but this is compelling viewing. Looks and sounds like a computer game to me, the greens are flawless and the birds seem almost fake.

Reed totally deserved that
Fowler almost nicked it at the end

Yep, Reed deserved it, played the right shots at the right time to keep his nose in front. Last round was a little disappointing in regards to pressure/tension/excitement, some great golf, particularly from Spieth, but final day of the Masters you want a little more tension.

Re: Masters Thread with Prediction Comp
Rory failed to capitalise on Reed's mistakes of which there were a fair few. It looked like he was trying too hard when Reed was in the trees and bunkers, going for a two shot swing and ending up in trouble himself. He played some very wayward shots on the back nine too, missing greens with a short iron for instance.
All four majors are now in American hands, doesn't bode well for the Ryder Cup.

Re: Masters Thread with Prediction Comp
After the second hole when Rory really should have been level with Reed, but had still got to within a shot, I thought we going to be in for a toe to toe battle which at that stage could have gone either way. However, when McIlroy bogeyed the 3rd and Reed birdied to move 3 ahead again it felt like it was not going to be Rory's day and so it panned out that way. Disappointed we didn't get the head to head as Reed was steady as a rock and Rory wilted with errant putting, but take nothing away from Reed, he put himself at the head of the leader board for others to chase down on the final day and despite the efforts of Fowler, Spieth and Rahm, Reed stood firm and deservedly won The Masters. Rory will win the Green Jacket one day I am sure Ricky Fowler will win a major soon enough as will Jon Rahm.
Good tournament overall and it remains my favourite Major.
All four Majors are now held by Americans. Ryder Cup is going to be a toughie I reckon.

Re: Masters Thread with Prediction Comp
So, congrats to Patrick Reed on his victory. Not the most popular of winners but held his nerve at the crucial moments and saw off the onslaught led by Speith and Fowler.
On to the comp, and somewhat embarrassingly a grand total of no-one had the winner as one of their picks. Back to the drawing-board, everyone. However that didn't stop some pretty decent scoring and only 2 points separate our top three.
Mega Ron and Chicken Run Supreme were the only players to correctly predict the winning score. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for either to trouble the podium but well done nonetheless.
Now, the top three...
3rd place - 43pts - Westhameggyandchips. A scoring ROW pick would probably have sealed it, but had to settle for third.
2nd place - 44pts - NT Hammer. Just edged out despite having the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers!
Which leaves our winner with 45 points - Polaroid. Having Oosthuizen as ROW plus some solid high finishers was enough to take the title. Very well done.
Final places:
45pts - Polaroid
44pts - NT Hammer
43pts - WHE&C
41pts - Pablo Jaye
38pts - Psycho, Skandi Brunson
35pts - JBB, Chicken Run Supreme
31pts - MDennis
29pts - Mumbles87, Chelmsford, DJ Bubbles
28pts - HammerDivOne, Southend
27pts - Mega Ron
26pts - CRFC Hammer, Clacton
25pts - SoulCircus, Row X
24pts - Hessa
18pts - WesthamDave1
17pts - Monkey Mike
8pts - R99c
Thanks for playing all. Back for the Open when summer rolls around...

Re: Masters Thread with Prediction Comp
Thanks for doing this Souly, always good fun and adds another level of enjoyment to watching. Well done to Polaroid, Eggy and NT Hammer, top picking there.
As everyone says, when Rory missed his first putt to level the scores and then found himself 3 behind again next hole you had a feeling it was not going to be his day. I just hope his putting is not going ruin his chances on Sunday's in the majors. He'd putted well enough the other days, but Sunday he was very poor for a player of his stature.
