Bell ,

Woakes
Jimmy
Unsure - Depending on conditions, Broad, Curran, Rashid or Leach

Still leaves you short a opener and front-line spinner. Possibly for the Sri Lanka and Windies tours I'd take a punt on Hameed as the ball won't bounce higher than waist high so won't expose his poppadom fingers. yes he hasn't churned out runs for the red rose but of all Cook's partners he has looked to have the best technique in the short period of time we saw him.

Other than that someone knock some sense into Cook...
You can't pick Hameed, he has barely made a run in 2 years.

No way do I take Woakes to Sri Lanka. Great player in England, consistently failed overseas. We will probably need two pace bowlers alongside Stokes. I'd play Sir Jim and possibly someone like Overton who can bowl at over 90 and generate bounce.

What has happened with Bess? Batted really well in his tests so ticks that box. No good enough spinner?

As good a Bell still maybe, it's a backwards step. Based on the length of time Jennings is getting maybe Vince at 3.

Hameed is miles off getting his place back sadly. Looked at first like he'd be in our opening pair for years but he's been poor since he got injured.

What is this nonsense I hear about us not taking our 8th best bowler of all time to Sri Lanka?

I'd say given Broads performances away from home warrant a discussion, as well as his recent performances. There isn't much difference between him and Stokes, and Woakes has consistently outperformed him with the willow for a while now.

Given our batting has been weak, I'd say in turning conditions of which we may well face in both Sri Lanka and the West Indies would be conducive to playing another spinner, you then look at the extra depth in the bating which means Broads place has to come under fire.

Also it would give him a rest for the winter which as he is notoriously injury prone isn't a bad thing.

Finally it might just piss him off enough to fire him up for the ashes series where we will need everyone fired up to the max considering how strong the Aussies will be with everyone back.

Not much difference between him and Stokes on bowling? Would argue that, Broad can keep an end tight, Stokes tends to go for more runs. Both are very capable of taking wickets, Stokes though has that superb knack of taking important wickets while leaking runs.

Both would be in my starting eleven.

As bendy says, I would start bringing Overton along, against the Aussies we need real pace/bounce, he may well be my swap for Broad in time.

Broad has to travel and play. Whether he should open the bowling is another thing as Curran might deserve a try especially being a lefty.

We took and played three spinners last tour

Swann panaesar and Patel

We had Anderson and broad in the first test as the only other bowlers both expensive

Second test broad didn’t play, Bresnan and Finn replaced broad and monty

Swann was our man

We won the second test after losing the first

I think the selectors know playing both Anderson and broad in Sri Lanka wastes a slower bowlers place and leaks runs on generally low scoring wickets

From what I've heard Sri Lanka will open the bowling with spinners.

We simply will not need a team containing Anderson, Broad and Stokes.

On those batting roads only spin or pace will work. Jimmy has such craft he has to play but Broad needs it to swing. He is the wrong choice for Sir Lanka and if we are to learn and progress overseas then we need to start being ruthless and picking the right players for the conditions.

Given our desire for 6 bowlers these days I'd have

Anderson
Overton
Stokes
Ali
Rashid
Bess

We could only play 2 spinners and use Root if we want more batting

I think I would have Leach over Bess.

Bit of a weird looking bloke that Burns isn’t he?

Like a young Phil Oakley.

Still, good luck to him. Scored a bag full for Surrey by all accounts. Didn’t realise he’s 28 though.

"No, I said 'take that, part timer'". Just a filthy selection of subhuman morons - racists, cheats and liars. Great at sport, but so many appalling sportsmen. Besmirches the name of the genuinely good people representing their country.

Trial of The Hundred today at Notts. Apparently this happened according to one of the journalists there
At the 100-ball trial at Trent Bridge. Funky new innovation spotted: High catch taken ... the batsmen had crossed ... but the new man faces the next delivery
Crap doesn't quite cover it

Also this has just been posted on Twitter by Aggers
Forgot to mention 2 sub fielders can come on and off to replace bowlers, who can return to bowl at any time. Sounds a good deal...
Why not just use the money set aside for advertising the Hundred to advertise the blast?

Mental doesn't come it, may as-well bring back Alan Stanford and get his opinions on it

It doesn't sit well with me that it's taken 3yrs and a imminent book release for this to go public.

WHy doesn't it sit well with you?

It's interesting. He obviously didn't want to get anyone in trouble but at the same time it demonstrates the way the Aussie cuntishness differs from other cricket teams.

So he didn't want to get anyone in trouble then, but is happy to now.......and BTW, buy my book for the full story.

Nah. If your racially abused, get the ****ers there and then (Especially if they're Australian), and not wait to cash-in on a book to do it.

i meant to post this closer to the time but have only just remembered

excellent thrilling series against India and i thought the indians played the game in the true spirit of the game - the way the treated Cook in his final game was superb and hats off to them - he will be missed very much
