OK, no new entries since my last post so I'll call the prediction comp closed. Good luck all.

I'll apologise now to Marcus Kinhult. I drew him in the club sweepstake so the chances of him even making the cut are zero.

"Come on Tommy"..... :scarfer:

Would love for Tommy Fleetwood to get an albatross.

Some big names having the weekend off; Garcia, Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Poulter and Darren Clarke to name but a few.

With the conditions as they are there could be some great scoring for the late starters. Even the old boy Tiger is sinking a few.

Saw all of the above at various stages yesterday and they were all out of sorts but none more so than Darren Clarke. A long time favourite of mine, he cut a sorry sight trudging off the 18th green, sad to see a former winner going through the motions like that.

As for the day itself, it was a fantastic day not blighted in the slightest by the rain that didn't stop till about 3 o'clock. We jumped on the short train journey from Arbroath to Carnoustie on the 07.27 and arrived on time to see Rory start his second round at 07:52. We then followed Rory's round all the way through 18 holes and even with an early start he had a massive following which got bigger as the round went on and was probably bigger than even Tiger's. By the time Rory had finished it was lunchtime and then reassess our plan for the afternoon. We chose the grandstand on the double green of the 4th and 14th and saw every player we wanted to see before following Rose and Speith for a few holes. We then headed to the12th green and took a prime spot where we could see them putting out the 12th but also watch them taking on the par 3 13th. We stayed there until Ricky Fowler's group passed and then raced to the 18th green and took a seat in the grandstand and watched every group fron Ernie Els through to Fowler's group, by which time it was approaching 8.00pm and over 12 hours of wonderful golf and we decided to call it a day, popping into the Loch Lomond whisky tent on the way out!

Round of the day had to be Tommy Fleetwood with his 66 in the very worst of the weather. Would be pleased to see Fleetwood or Rory win but there are some dangerous septics at the top of the leader board and they seem to have a tight grip on the majors at the moment.

Already planning for St Andrews in 2021.

Absolute birdie bonanza in these conditions today, leader will be comfortably in double figures below par by end of play today.

I have to say I have nothing but admiration for the current leader of this year's Open Golf , the way he turned his life around after a series of flops , must have been hard to take after such hits as ' JFK ' , ' Dances With Wolves ' and ' Field Of Dreams ' , and at 63 he must be one of the oldest competitors ever .
