On supporting West Ham British Open winner Francesco Molinari previously said: "When I moved to London Gianfranco Zola was manager of West Ham and my coach, Denis Pugh, supports them - as do a few other friends of mine in London”

A very quick look through the scores suggests the top 3 is:

Eggy
Mumbles
Monkey Mike

All helped by Rose's Lazarus like comeback

Really enjoyed that tournament. 3rd and 4th days in particular were spectacular, and Carnoustie is fast becoming one of my favourite courses. And seeing a Hammer lift the Claret Jug was great, well done Francesco. Gives us on this side of the pond a shot in the arm before the Ryder Cup too...

On to the comp, looks like most of my work has been done for me

Just one person got the winning score right, that was Pablo Jaye. Wasn't quite enough to break into the top three though.

In reverse order:

3rd - Monkey Mike - 15pts
2nd - Mumbles87 - 17pts
1st - Westhameggyandchips with 21 pts. Very well done. Scored solid points with all 5 picks which was enough to clinch victory.

Overall scores:

21 - Westhameggyandchips
17 - Mumbles87
15 - Monkey Mike
12 - Pablo Jaye
10 - Crouchend
6 - SoulCircus
5 - Psychoscoredthelot, R99C, CRFC Hammer
4 - Hessa, Row X, Mega Ron
1 - Chicken Run Supreme
-1 - NT Hammer, Aberdeen
-2 - Polaroid
-4 - Johnny Byrne's Boots
-7 - DJ Bubbles

Thanks for playing everyone. See you back here for the Ryder Cup in September!

Thanks Mr. C for the competition. My dismal showing demonstrates what I love about the Open, it's so unpredictable that anyone can win it. Ben Curtis? Todd Hamilton?

So many who play almost exclusively on 'rip it then spin it' courses are bamboozled by links golf.

Cheers Souly and well done eggy.

Twas a cracking Open on a beautiful course that even in calm conditions is a beast. Pleased for Molinari as it stopped the run of septics in Majors. Great effort from Justin Rose after needing a 20 footer on the 18th on Friday just to make the cut. Surely he will win an Open eventually?
Like Rose, Fleetwood and McIlroy will look back and think they could have won but Molinari had form going into the Open and is a most deserved winner, and a Hammer too. Happy days!

I'll take third. I had a quick look on Sunday morning and it looked like to win I needed Casey to have a stormer, which never materialised. Well done Eggy and thank Souly for your efforts.
