Re: Boxing thread
It's a joke. Bloke isn't even in the top 10 Super Middleweights. All these bloody titles do my head in. George Groves is the Super Middleweight World Champion, not Rocky ****ing Fielding.EvilC wrote:How the **** is Rocky Fielding a world champion?
Re: Boxing thread
A bit harsh on Rocky to be fair. OK he is a "Regular World Champion", agreed he shouldn't be referred to as a world champion it's nonsense. But he has rebuilt his career after a devastating loss to Smith and has just gone to Germany with 50 odd fans and caused a huge upset and he deserves a lot of credit.ironstu wrote: It's a joke. Re: Boxing thread
Yeah fair enough that probably was a bit harsh on him (although I stand by the comment that he isn't in the top 10 SMW's in the world) as there's no doubt it was a brilliant 'away' performance and a good comeback from that Smith lost. It's just he should not be referred to as a World Champion in any universe. All this Super Champion and Regular Champion b*llocks does my head in.

Completely agree, its an utter shambles.ironstu wrote:Yeah fair enough that probably was a bit harsh on him (although I stand by the comment that he isn't in the top 10 SMW's in the world) as there's no doubt it was a brilliant 'away' performance and a good comeback from that Smith lost. Re: Boxing thread
Take nothing away from Rocky Fielding, that was a fantastic performance from him. Forget the belt scenario, he's put himself up there now. The likes of Benavidez and Ramirez are getting away with taking easy fights, going to Germany and doing that was mightily impressive. The British boys are almost dominating that division.

Usyk was on a completely different level, what a fighter. If he moves up to Heavyweight he gives anyone massive problems.fmgod wrote:Usyk last night was sensational, absolutely flawless, called out Bellew, who he would murder

No chance he'd give Joshua or Wilder any agg, would get bombed out all day long...twixy wrote:Usyk was on a completely different level, what a fighter. If he moves up to Heavyweight he gives anyone massive problems.
Re: Boxing thread
Usyk’s amateur background was as a heavyweight
He gets hit, but potentially would box AJ’s head off
I doubt that fight will ever happen, but would love to see him beat Bellew

Re: Boxing thread
Usyk would box rings rounds AJ. He has pedigree at Heavyweight in the Amateurs and bashed up Joe Joyce in the World Series, at 6"3 isn't quite as small as some people think. AJ probably stops him late but Usyk would cause him all sorts of problems IMO.NorthBankAlliance wrote:

Re: Boxing thread
In the amateurs isn't heavyweight equivalent to cruiserweight in the pro ranks?
They have super-heavyweight for the big guys

Re: Boxing thread
Yes in the Ams it is, but he fought at Super Heavy (91+) in the World Series when he beat Joyce.

Personally think Whyte will win lining up AJ vs Whyte 2 at Wembley next AprilChzMff wrote:Who are people favouring for the Whyte - Parker fight?

Re: Boxing thread
I think Whyte-Parker is a really good 50/50 fight. It's hard to know which way it will go but I think if I had to put my money anywhere it would be on a Whyte points win. Parker is a bit too cute to get knocked out but I think Whyte's size and power could allow him to dominate. Who knows though, could go either way!
Re: Boxing thread
Good fight, regardless of my opinion about it being on box office
Whyte has been steadily improving, which makes it a good match up. Parker for me is going to win. He does the 12 rounds well, can box reasonably well when he wants to do and quite frankly Whyte is there to be hit. Both men for me are likeable and come across well.
Parker by points or a late KO imo
