Re: Boxing thread
Fingers crossed for Skoglund, I do wonder if his seemingly fluctuating weight has played any part in this, going right up to Cruiserweight and then back down to Super Middleweight.

Re: Boxing thread
DeGale didn't look right, he's going to get torn apart by Groves and Eubank jnr on social media, and he's now probably viewed as the fourth best British Super Middleweight after that defeat.
Yarde and Dubois did what was expected, as did Selby, who again boxed beautifully. On that form I think Selby would beat Warrington and Frampton.

Re: Boxing thread
Either DeGale is finished and punch drunk or last night he looked like he just didn't care, I mean his whole career is baffling as he always boxes for two minutes a round and then spends the third of each round on the ropes. There is so much talent in him that he should've been absolutely elite just a few massive flaws and McDonell I don't rate as a trainer. Got a feeling he isn't a great pro, I've seen him out quite a bit in different bars etc

Re: Boxing thread
I think he's finished, nobody ever really gave him the credit he deserved but now I can't see a way back for him unless he seriously knuckles down and does what Groves did after the Jack defeat.
Loma won, as we all thought would happen. Too big, too strong and too technical for Rigo. Lomachenko seems to be able to dishearten his opponents with his movement and style. I'm just gutted that Salido has just now retired, meaning Loma can't get revenge for that bulls**t loss.

Re: Boxing thread
DeGale looked a shell of his former self on Saturday. I expect a major shake up from him if he is going to come back, most likely with a new trainer. Too many big fights and money in the UK SMW division for him to quit just yet.
Re: Boxing thread
The problem is he on a dangerous tight rope of earning money still and getting some big pay days and his long term health punch drunk etc. I mean a lot of his fights have been abroad or in shopping centres no body really wants to see him, but a cash out fight against Eubank or Groves would probably be the best route for him
Re: Boxing thread
Groves, Eubank, Callum Smith
A couple of them are going to take losses in the Super Series tournament, would still be big fights with DeGale despite his loss on the weekend. Never been his biggest fan despite his skill, but he has been a credible boxer and World Champion. A huge setback on Saturday, but he has to try and comeback with the current depth and money in the UK scene.

Re: Boxing thread
Not one comment on Billy Joe Saunders' masterclass?
One of the best performances by a British fighter since Froch vs Bute or Calzaghe vs Lacy. He schooled him for every minute of every round, highly impressive.

Re: Boxing thread
Very very good BJS. Will give Canelo a fight on that evidence. Loved his interview afterwards too.

Re: Boxing thread
Not seen the fight but I gather Saunders boxed exceptionally well. Well done, Billy Joe!
Re: Boxing thread
Joshua not making the top three for SPOTY a big shock, I reckon the mask is slowly slipping, even more so with his racist and black supremacist comments.
