I was lucky enough to see the '66 trio and also Bonzo, 'arry and Sir Trev play. Some of my fondest memories. Really pleased to see this thread up and running again. Every picture tells a story. Thank you CH.

Upton Park’s floodlights were installed in early 1953 and first switched on in anger for a friendly fixture against First Division Tottenham Hotspur in April 1953. More floodlit friendlies soon followed and the opposition included several top European club sides.

Thats from Theyflysohigh, normally pretty accuarate
It must have been a friendly as we were in different divisions back then.

For those of a certain generation, Bonzo and Brooking epitomise everything that was great about our club. Mooro was still playing for us when I first started going (April '73) but I really don't remember much from those handful of games I saw him for us but Trev and Bill were there as a constant up to the mid 80's and we will never see their likes again sadly.
My mum's favourite was always Geno and I remember taking my parents to see Norwich at the Boleyn a few years back and he was signing autographs near the club shop. My mother who was in he early 70's was star struck and I had to ask him to sign her programme. He would have stayed there all day signing autographs if they let him. Always a gentleman.
My two all-time heroes, the artist and the hardman. Brooking always said Bonzo was his minder on the pitch.
