Stratford 2012 [POLL]

Postby Up the Junction on Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:43 pm

David Sullivan has outlined his plans to move West Ham United FC to the Olympic Stratford stadium...

All we know at this stage is that the plan is to rent the new Stadium. Oh, and definitely no running track behind the goals!

With no athletics track and the promised cheap ticket prices, sure. If not, then no.

I don't want it to happen and it won't, in my opinion.

I'm not sure if Mr Sullivan has really looked into this in any kind of depth. :?

I don't like the idea so vote no

however I gave up my ST 2 seasons ago and hadn't really planned returning - I certainly won't whilst duckers is still around.

With the financial problems at the club it may be the only way forward

If everything is right and we get what we want i'm up for it. At the end of the day our place has had its day, we can never change the train station and the parking is an absolute nightmare, facilities inside the stadium are not great.

Move on and move up. :crest:

Depends. It was reassuring that Sullivan had his concerns about the running track. Obviously if the move was to happen it needs to be on the club's terms. Fans close to the pitch and it's a good idea. Sullivan also saying that the move would facilitate cheap ticket prices.

Only concern would be that they would only be renting the stadium from the government. Would we be playing in a characterless stadium or would it be developed to look like the home ground of West Ham United?

Depends, will we ever fill 80,000 seats?
I don't want a club with a running track
I don't want a stadium where we have to have loads of different facilities
I don't want to be spending £8 on a pie and pint just becaue we need that money to rent the ground (infact I just don't want to be spending £8)

I can't see why we can do what Man utd did, expand our ground, building the stand with the option of adding another tier to it seems a much better way forward for me.

The club has to expand and it's a purpose built stadium round the corner to the original ground. Redevelopment of stadiums don't really happen anymore!

Yes, but Paulo, it's more about survival and having viability as a Premiership club. Servicing the debt is one thing, but really moving the club onto a sound financial footing will take higher revenues and prestige, which would come with the Olympic Stadium. Sad to say, but the traditions of the club have already been trampled well and truly into the dirt. A new dawn is what we should be looking at, and we can always take our history with us, because that does not change!

Not sure that I can see them finding a way to do this that works for the club and satisfies all other parties. If they can, then I'd reluctantly support the idea, but for now it depends.

If it was OUR new home, not just a big bowl with no west ham stamp, with no running track then maybe, as it does make finacial sense (i assume)

can't say i like the idea of leaving the Boleyn though, can't we just re-develope our ground/expand it?

If we move there, it will be a sad sad day, sad to leave the boleyn, all the memories, the atmosphere, the pubs, ill be truly gutted that ill never be able to take my son there with to experiance a day out at West Ham..of course I need a son first but you know lol

Anyway, for the club to move forward I think its an important move and one which eventually needs to happen, im curious as to what the capacity will be in the end.

:crest:

Of course I wouldnt say no to the expansion of UP but to how much can we expand in the end?
