Re: Speroni
I haven't seen a lot of this geezer, but from what I have seen of him, he looks a pretty good goalkeeper, but not what I would call anything special. I have no idea why it is, but every time I do see him play, he gives me the impression that he has margin for error. If he is as good as that Palace fan says he is and he might be, for all I know, but if he is, why has spent so long at C P and why hasn't another Premiership courted him ?

I literally have no idea why he's still with us! He's way too good.Puff Daddy wrote:I haven't seen a lot of this geezer, but from what I have seen of him, he looks a pretty good goalkeeper, but not what I would call anything special. Re: Speroni
Thanks for the info mate, always rated this guy, brilliant 'keeper.
Is this a rumour you've heard personally, or did you just read it in the times?

Re: Speroni
I think Speroni is an excellent 'keeper, and if Green were to leave he`d be a suitable replacement. But as it happens, I`m 99% sure Green won`t leave. And with Green here I`m not really into the idea of having two similar goalkeepers at a similar age. It would make a lot more sense to have either an experienced goalkeeper at the back end of his career (David James, Maik Taylor) who could possibly take over as goalkeeping coach as we seem to need one OR a young goalkeeper (a la Kasper Schmeichel) who could push Green for a place.

Just read it in the times, but it does seem pretty reasonable.indiehammer wrote:Thanks for the info mate, always rated this guy, brilliant 'keeper.

I know he's Englands number one and all that, but is Rob Green really that great?

Pass...
that was 5 years ago...
Gomes was shocking at the start of last season, he's now one of the best keepers in the Prem. Things change!

Put it this way...he's replaceable and i think Speroni would replace him well.

Re: Speroni
If Forest dont go up we should go for Lee Camp - seen him a few times this season and been outstanding and hes younger I think than Speroni

Re: Speroni
This is important - I've stated before, keepers wearing these are a no-no. They're always a liability.Chuck D wrote:Does he still wear tracksuit bottoms?
Re: Speroni
I remember when he first joined Palace he said it was in the hope to break into the national team, given a great spell in the SPL with big clubs looking at him.
I'd say he's a decent keeper, but his poor positioning, along with his quick reactions and eccentricity make every save he makes look harder and better than it actually is.

Didn't we sign him on loan for a few games once?WHamZam wrote:That`s the other one. Gabor Kiraly or something.
Re: Speroni
Indeed we did, Pardew brought him in just before he was sacked. I think Green and Walker were both injured, so he sat on the bench whilst Carroll stood in goal.

Best keeper in the CCC
Re: Speroni
why because he plays in the championship?West Dan wrote:Can't believe we'd consider outing England's no 1 for Speroni
Speroni has been top class everytime I have watched him play.
I'd have him anyday over Green.
