Re: Manager 13: the poll
Voted Bilic, Jol would have been my 2nd choice. I can't believe so many wanted Avram.

And if it was Jol instead of Avram, and he would be in the same situation, everyone would say, "i can't believe so many wanted him..."

That we'll never know. My reason for not wanting Avram was based on the fact that he has no charisma, and that he ended up at Portsmouth despite taking Chelsea to a CL final.theflafson wrote:And if it was Jol instead of Avram, and he would be in the same situation, everyone would say, "i can't believe so many wanted him..."
Re: Manager 13: the poll
But that does depend on what he was offered and promised by the (lack of) money men at Portsmouth.munichhammer wrote:

Re: Manager 13: the poll
you'd have thought that on the back a CL final that he'd have ended up as manager of a big club, as it was he ended up as "Director of football" (which is a wanky title for someone that knows a bit about football, but is a **** manager) at Portsmouth.

Re: Manager 13: the poll
Looking back at this, you can argue we should have gone for Jol or Pardew, didnt Hughes say no or demanded too much money? I cant remember the comments made by the Daves as to who they approached.
Maybe Pards didnt fancy coming back and Jol preferred Ajax?

Absolutely no idea who should be our next manager, or even if Grant should stay . . . I think this season has finally done my brain in 'cos I really can't think straight any more

I voted for Pards ... stand by the decision.
Now we have Grant, then I think he's doing a decent job under difficult circumstances, has signed well, and on current form with his squad, is doing a very good mid table standard job. Trouble is, the form at the start of the season with Zola's players has scuppered us ever since.

I say let Avram stay beyond this season, no matter if we stay or go down.
He has what it takes to bring us up the table (beyond this season) and if we go down i know he has what it takes to bring us back up.

I completely & utterly disagree with everything you say & nothing is going to sway that difference of opinion after this many games.theflafson wrote:I say let Avram stay beyond this season, no matter if we stay or go down.

But fair play to you for having faith like that in the bloke.

Re: Manager 13: the poll
You've got a fair point...I was one of those that voted for Grant, because I felt if we ended up in a relegation scrap, he'd be the manager to pull us through it. Well, we find ourselves up to our necks in it and whether he keeps us up, remains to be seen. I don't blame him for our position FWIW; that I attribute, to the lack of investment last Summer for the right players - depth is one thing, strength in depth we just didn't get.theflafson wrote:I say let Avram stay beyond this season, no matter if we stay or go down.

It's been pointed out that this squad is evolving into his squad, he should have the opportunity to bring it on and mature it. Another manager would take us back to square 1...again.
