Seconded. Saw this again last night, and it's one of those moments that I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing. Kath Copeland's face was an absolute picture as she sat there in a kind of stunned disbelief at what she'd achieved. Then, as Sophie Hosking turns to face her, the sudden realisation that "We've won the Olympics". Just bloody brilliant. Damn it, I've got something in my eye.Sweeney Bod wrote:Anyway, off my soap box. I have said this a few times, but this was my champagne moment from the games.
Just sheer joy and Britishness

Re: The Olympics
Good one that. Seem to remember them saying something silly like "We've let everyone down" and orange John telling them not to be silly and that they've nothing to apologise for.Clucking Bell wrote:I think the defining moment for me was when John Inverdale tried to interview Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter after they'd "only" won silver after half killing themselves in the lightweight double sculls. They were all in tears and apologizing to the nation before Steve Redgrave put his arms around them both and led them away.

Anyone else think that Alistair Brownlee is the spit of Michael Palin? Alistair did the Triathalon, Michael did the Hopathon.

Picture of Laura Trott in the metro tonight looking "fashionable" heading to radio one to do an interview.
Hope this isn't the start of things to come, Olympians becoming fashionable celebs that are always pictured "stepping out".

A mate of mine managed to blag his way into an Olympic Hockey party on Saturday night after the final - Georgie Twigg got him in and he has now plastered pics of him and Kitty Van Male ( v attractive Dutch Hockey player) across his Facebook account!!

Totally agree. I would rather see someone that has achieved something in the papers than some vapid reality nonentity. Don't worry the papers will back to banility as X Factor bores us again this weekendpablo jaye wrote:

I was never a fan of Inverdale but I think he endeared himself to the nation there.sicknote wrote:
and what followed that was john inverdale struggling to hold his own tears and composure to finish his words and hand over to the start of the next race
My moment(s) has to be Mo. Both races. I think because on both occasions you really didn't know if he was going to do it until the death.
As exciting a sporting occasion/event as I can ever remember.....

Shameless promotions. Not a touch on the opening ceremony.

Don't normally pay much heed to Chris Evans but liked this one. 'Why is it the Olympics is every four years and The X Factor is on every week? It should be the other way round surely?'
Good montage that was on the BBC a couple of times -

Re: The Olympics
The BBC did some great montages.
Emili Sandu singing Imagine and the one with Thea Gilomre singing London Town (as above!) which I can find on You Tube.
I'm trying to find the montage the BBC did at the beginning of the Closing Ceremony programme when it started at half 7 on Sunday. It had Lord Coe's welcome speech at the Opening ceremony playing with shots of various moments of London 2012. Always makes me moisty eyed!
It's still on the I player, but will probably be gone in the next few days, anyone else seen it?
