Re: The January 2013 transfer window
I would like to see us sign that Democratic Republic of Congo goalkeeper. Just for the comedy value
Re: The January 2013 transfer window
According to L'equipe, Montpellier have turned down an offer from West Ham on their defender Henri Bedimo. The offer was 2m euros. Have n´t seen it anywhere but sorry if posted before.

too bad we didn't sign all of our defensive targets... we could have had a back line of:Absentee Hammer wrote:Now that Rod Fanni has signed a 2 year extension at Marseille, I see from an untrusted source we are looking at a 6 month loan with a 1.5M option in the summer for Willie Boly, you really couldnt make this up...well, I suppose you can

Re: The January 2013 transfer window
Seems to be open season on Frog players in this window. Obviously gettable on a wages basis for the players and values are not too demanding by the clubs either. BUT always seems more of a gamble whether they come off in English football. Whatever happened to taking no bigger a chance on Championship defenders? The Boro lad quoted before, Davies from Brum not a bad shout also what about that Mills bloke we fancied a few years back now rotting at Bolton. There are also some well-rated younger talents such as Brayford at Derby, Hoban at Watford, Lees at Leeds and James Chester at Hull.

I agree with that BF. Yes you pay more for British based players but it's worth it as they're already adapted to the English game.

According to a Derby supporting mate, Will Hughes looks very decent too.BrownFatwa wrote:There are also some well-rated younger talents such as Brayford at Derby, Hoban at Watford, Lees at Leeds and James Chester at Hull.

As well as that, they are easier to sell, know the language, obviously use to the country, know the clubs whereas you're taking more of a gamble with an overseas players, a lot of them do work out but a lot don't, I mean just look at Tevez and Barrea, Carlos still can't speak English after what five/six years here and Barrea couldn't speak it either and it probably hindered him, trying to communicate with team mates, staff not only that but talking to people, dressing is probably full of "banter" and he don't have a clue what's going on.

Becchio said to be on £19,000 a week at Leeds and wants to leave for more money. Meanwhile they are being linked with a possible (desperate) target for us, Stephen Warnock and a return move for Max Gradel, though I doubt they'll match his wage demands either.

So Zaha has completed a medical at Manure but loaned back to Crystal Palace..
What happens if he injures himself permanently and has to retire, do Manure then have to pay the player the contract even though he has never spent more than a day there? Puzzles me slightly that they just risk this not happening..

If he's on loan there then it is no different to if that happened to Robert Hall while on loan at Brum.trick88 wrote:So Zaha has completed a medical at Manure but loaned back to Crystal Palace..

if you sign a player and he gets injured without having played once, you still pay him.
it doesn't matter how he got injured (while on loan, while training, while taking a dump), it's your player, you pay him.

France has introduced a 75% income tax rate on top earners plus they have a wealth tax and social charges too. Most top footballers just have to get out of France the first opportunity they can or be relatively poor in their retirement.BrownFatwa wrote:Seems to be open season on Frog players in this window.....
The French actor Gerrard Depardieu, recently handed back his French passport, moved to Belgium and then took Russian citizenship through his mate Vladimir Putin, simply because he paid over 85% tax last year. That's also why Boris recently offered a warm welcome to French businessmen wanting to come to London.
A sobering thought for all those socialists that want the British rich to pay for their benefits....

No different to him stepping under a bus on his way out of Old Trafford after signing a contract. They'd be insured.trick88 wrote:No really what i meant.. Rob Hall has been our player for a while and a slight contribution to west ham. Zaha hasn't played for United once

I thought that move had been thrown out by the French Supreme Court (or equivalent) Has a modified but still high rate tax law been introduced yet?Willtelll wrote:France has introduced a 75% income tax rate on top earners

I think the Championship is so different to the EPL that it doesn't make any difference.Trevor Montana wrote:I agree with that BF. Yes you pay more for British based players but it's worth it as they're already adapted to the English game.

You may well have a point.
