There was talk of Armero signing in the summer.bristolhammerfc wrote: For me its a couple of full backs, a defensive midfielder and striker.
Lescott
Richards/Johnson
Fer
Not sure about the striker but that would be good business.

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
I'd say two/three solid replacements/improvements to the squad. Ideally players with a bit of life. And it doesn't need to break the bank either...
I'd be over moon if we spent 25 million on 2/3 good solid players who will improve the team.

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
two fullbacks, central midfielder and a forward as Bristol says.
Nocherino and Boriello would fit the midfield and forward roles and are easily good enough. I would like Richards, he can play right back or centre back, and Lescott, but maybe a dedicated left back would be better.

Permanent striker, young promising right back, a winger or two.
The usual.

A striker who can challenge Carroll for a starting spot and offer something a bit different

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Slightly early for this thread to be reading its ugly head!
I agree with us needing to sign a LB and a RB, and I feel fairly confident that we can sign strong players in these positions without breaking the bank. It is also obvious that we will need another striker to compete with Carroll and Cole, and another CM wouldn't go amiss, but for me this is not the priority.
In order to push on and become a contender for a top 7/8 place, we need to sign a real top quality player to play on the right (or left) hand side of our front three. It has been mentioned here many times before, but a player in the Anelka mould would bring real balance to our attacking play, and I think that Allardyce sees this player as the final piece of the (Bolton Season 04-05 ) jigsaw.

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
What we've needed for the last 4 transfer windows - a goalscoring wide forward.
4-4-2 is dead and Sam never liked it anyway, Carroll is always going to be the main man, so we need another outlet for goals if the Carroll-Nolan axis doesn't work on a particular day/week/month. Jarvis and Downing's goal tally is frankly pathetic, even when they're contributing well in other areas.
Remy was the perfect prototype for this, but won't be in our reach after this season. So someone like Remy.

Wishlist...
Milner
Kalou/Remy
Richards (or some other utility defender who can play all across the back)
If that happens I'd tolerate a few last minute Sulli Specials...
