So basically he'll fight with Downing for the position on the right whilst Vaz Te will continue on the left until Jarvis regains fitness??

Surely not. If this it true we're overloading in certain positions but leaving ourselves light in others like LW and CB. :?

Hopefully he will move Downing to where he should be on the left, I think he is wasted playing on the right.

Not if he does more cutting in from the wing and scoring, his crossing with his right peg isn't bad, and as he can use both feet the lb is in a difficult world

Yeah I reckon he'll do that. Downing has been good there this season though and shown his versatility.

If he moved Downing back and Amalf played on the right that'll do for me.

Looks a pretty good transfer window to me and in terms of squad depth we look strong.

Hopefully this will lead to stronger team on the pitch with all the competition for places and we wont continually be lining up with JOB, Cole & Vaz Te as part of our starting 11.

We could do far worse than signing Papa Bouba Diop for cover - he is a free agent so the fee wouldn't be too high either.

Not the greatest transfer window in the world but not a disaster.

Just wish we'd signed a proven premier league striker & winger.

Valencia/Sakho could very well turn into Maiga & Amalfitano couldn't get into the WBA team at the back end of last season... no better than Vaz.

Plenty of 0-0's coming up I feel. :asleep:

If I ever find myself on a sinking ship, I hope Natalie and the lovely Hayley McQueen are next to me.
Just in case you missed their ice bucket challenge. Love the fact that Hayley has gone with the high heels rather than flip-flops!!

:eh:

No 4th CB and Bassong still stuck at Norwich, doing 'eff all whilst his feud with Adams continues..

Also interesting that both Redmond and Hooper remain there too...

Keeper position is weak too...but I think I'm in the minority in that one.

Jack Sullivan said we enquired about Redmond but Norwich wanted £10mil.

We had a £4m bid for Olsson turned down too.

But we got Kouyate and Cresswell. So it turned out well eh.

I can't believe I've seen this one mentiones so often on here, I think he's an absolute donkey. Would rather blood a youngster or have the relegator back.

Also, I'm glad to see Hull and Manure had a blinding day in the market yesterday just before we play them both! If the defence don't get their act together playing against v.Persie, Rooney, Di Maria and Falcao could be interesting.

Kouyate is a midfielder. Though I do wonder if he will now be converted back into a CB to accommodate Song slotting into midfield..

At Left-Back the cover for Cresswell is also a bit thin. Meanwhile it appears George McCartney is still a free agent? I hope he's kept fit over summer - an injury or 2 in the full-back positions and we could have last year's Carlton Cole scenario repeated again..

So is Redmond :eh:

When we were going for Kouyate we enquired about Redmond.

Also, when we looking for a left-back we put a 4mil bid in for Martin Olsson before signing Aaron Creswell.

Amalfitano scored 4 goals (3 of them screamers) in 31 premier league appearances last season

38 games in total so he couldnt get in the team for what 7 games? maybe there was a clause in his loan deal we didnt know about

great signing for us

How many goals did Jarvis or Downing score last season?

Jarvis: 32 games, 2 goals, 3 assists

Downing: 32 games, 1 goal, 2 assists

Amalfitano: 31 games, 4 goals, ? assists

I wasn't suggesting we should have gone for Redmond. I was suggesting we should have gone for Bassong.

As a sidenote I was expressing general surprise that no other Prem club took Redmond off of Norwich's hands..

I didn't quote your original post. It was just a continuation of your mention of Redmond and Norwich in general.

You then quoted me. But fwiw, I don't think Bassong is great tbh. But very glad we got Cresswell instead of Olsson, he got sent off and banned for 3 matches for pushing the ref in his first game.
