Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Got a feeling Glen Johnson will be this summers marquee signing.
Haven't we already got a Portuguese midfielder on a free?

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Ensure competition for places, 2 players for each position, and only sign players better or equal to what we currently have.
There is no need for a panic buy, but would hope we got our transfer activity resolved quickly for one time (fingers crossed)

That will never happen with our Daves. They are mainly interseted in loans.AJ wrote:Ensure competition for places, 2 players for each position, and only sign players better or equal to what we currently have.

Just 3 specials ones to bring us to the next level. Talk again in 7 months - as the window slams shut.

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Quality not quantity would be my hope. That may not happen though bearing in mind how many of our players will be out of contract.
Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Glen Johnson is on what? 100k p/w? Don't think he'd take a pay cut to join and I certainly wouldn't want him here for that much.
I'd be very interested to see how a duo of Noble-Ki looked next season.

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
I think this season has shown that some of our squad players are not really up to the standard necessary and we need to address this with some quality addition.
Ins:
New LB (Armero?)
3rd/4th choice CB
DM (possibly Nocerino?)
Ball playing CM, as back up to Noble, god forbid he gets injured for an extended period of time
Wing-Forward, in the Vaz Te mould (Kalou?)
CF (Not Boriello, bit too old, would prefer someone a little younger and hungrier)
Outs:
Diarra
J Cole
Maiga
Johnson (Loan expiry)
Boriello (Loan expiry)
Leaves us with a squad looking like:
Adrian (Jussi)
New LB (Linda)
Demel (O'Brien)
Reid (Collins)
Tomkins (New CB)
New DM (Taylor/Diame)
Noble (New CM/ Collison)
Nolan (Morrison)
New Wing-Forward (Vaz Te)
Downing (Jarvis)
Carroll (Cole/ New CF)
Giving us our 25 senior players with cover for ever position with a couple over in CM and up front. Would not be too bothered if Diame went to raise funds although I do think we need a player like him in the team so we would have to replace him. Ditto Collison (sadly) but I don't think he would raise much if any money in a transfer fee, and appears happy as back up so I believe we should keep hold of him. If the Dave's are feeling really flush an upgrade on Demel would also be welcome given his age, but I believe he can comfortably go on another season.
I really feel that if we make the right additions and have a bit of luck with injuries we can push for a top 8 finish, like Southampton and Newcastle this year.

Ian Strinic left back/left midfielder for Dnipro is one of the reasons Sam was out last nights game

Dnipro had some really good players, lots of them technically very gifted.

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Strinic looked good last night as did Konoplyanka on the left wing , the latter may be a bit pricey but if we could get both wow!
