A new RB - Richards, or maybe G.Johnson if Liverpool are after a new RB
A decent back up keeper if Jussi's on his way out
A decent LB, possibly keep that Armero on if he's any good.
A decent back up striker, can't put all our faith in Carlton, someone like Fletcher or Shane Long would be perfect.
1 CM. - With J.Cole on his way out, also if we sell Diame he'll need replacing aswell.

I'd also try and give Ravel another shot, see if he's sorted himself out.

I would like to start by listing the players whose contracts expire at the end of the season

Keepers
Jussi - Possibly renew (1 year) as back up to Adrian

Defenders
Johnson - loan - Release
McCartney - Possibly renew
Armero - loan - Rumblings around that we want to sign him permanently,we as fans haven't seen him
Potts - Cheap 3 year renewal contract, no brainer.

Midfield
Razak - Loan - Talk when we signed him we would offer new contract
Nocerino - Loan - Nice to keep, if inexpensive.
Taylor - done enough to offer a 2 year renewal
Joe Cole - Thanks Joe, but bye bye, too expensive.
Vaz Te - Release as he wont sign a new contract unless he gets game time

Forwards
Borriello - loan - Would love to keep him, but he doesn't play our system, he needs a 2nd fwd to play with

So ignoring Potts & Razak who are not currently listed in our 25 man squad, we will lose potentially 9 players, and probably 4 players (Johnson,Joe Cole, Vaz Te & Borriello)

To strengthen, we need (New contracts required for 2014 season) & Current contract expiry in brackets, plus Spiegel & Razak will not count as U21 players next season, so will have to be part of our 25 man squad if we want them to play

GK, Adrian(2016), Jussi, Henderson (2015), Spiegel(2015)
LB (Armero, McCartney & Potts(U21))
CB Reid(2015), Tomkins(2016)
CB Collins(2016), New CB
RB Demel(2015), JOB(2016)

DM Diarra(2015) Taylor
MF Noble(2015), Nocerino
MF Diame(2015), Collison(2015), Razak?
AM Nolan(2016), Morrison(2015)
LW/RW Jarvis(2017), Downing(2017), New RW

FWD Carroll(2019), Carlton(2015) New Forward

So this (including new signings) totals 27 players, therefore I can see us selling Collison & Henderson to make the numbers work and then any other sales are replaced with like type players.

Can't believe we've not signed anyone yet. Why leave it 'til the last minute? BFS out. G&S are a joke.

Crikey. :eh:

Medel pony against our ten men & midfield which included a half fit Collison.

Hooper? Really?

Redmond has looked OK. But nothing special.

Nocerino has barely kicked a ball for us.

Interesting choices.

Micah Richards, a left back of some description - perhaps Armero if he can prove his worth before the end of the season, a combative, powerful, tall centre midfielder to play with Noble - perhaps Fellaini as our marquee signing? A wide "Vaz Te" stype striker who can deputise through the middle as well if we get injuries, Kalou? And finally, cover for our 3 oustanding centre halves!

Medel is a classy player playing in a **** team. I think him next to Noble would be great. I've seen a lot of him with Chile and always liked him as a player.
Redmond would be an improvement on Jarvis imo.
Hooper is a good player and would be an improvement on Carlton/ a good addition to the squad
Nocerino will be cheap and looks useful.

Oh, can I add Kim from Sunderland/Swansea - he is a very tidy player too.

Depending on Johnson, that would be my priority as well.

Full backs first, fourth central defender (if needed), young striker to provide competition to Cole and Carroll, and someone in midfield to compete with Taylor.

Well Leon and others, seeing as Sam has already started talking about summer business and getting it done early and as posters already started clogging up other threads speculating, it keeps it all in one place.

If you think its too early don't post

In the Wish List column a new contract for Reid should be at the top.

Next season we should play an unorthodox 4-1-1-3-1 formation, so the midfield is in a t-shape. A proper defensive midfielder/workhouse just behind Noble, giving him freedom of the middle? With 3 attacking midfielders/wingers ahead of him, and Carroll spearheading. In a dream world it would look like this:

Adrian
Richards Tomkins Reid Armero
Milner
Noble
Remy Nolan Downing
Carroll.

With a bench of: Jussi, Demel, Collins, Jarvis, Vaz Te, Morrison, Carlton

I'd be tempted to look for a Nolan replacement, the captain has really stood up to be counted this last month, but he's being increasingly subbed off early, and as he is approaching retirement we need to be looking for a younger model, whilst transitioning Nolan into motivational coach. Someone like Gylfi Sigurdsson.

A noteable few of our players go into their final year next season the best of which include Reid & Nobes.

I make it 10 players contracts expire in 2015, some we will be pleased about (Diarra), others inc Morrison, Diame & Demel are debatable, and a few Collison, Carlton, Spiegel & Henderson would not damage us too much if they left in 18 months.
