Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
In all seriousness Puff has 15k posts on here but hasn't shown his face since the "Mersongate" episode so either they are one and the same person and he's ashamed at being rumbled or he's a bit sheepish at being caught out copying Merse's views on the hammers...
He's had enough slagging on here over the years just for having the audacity to suggest that Matt Tubbs was no worse an option than the absolute legends we had up front in the Championship such as Baldock, Carew and Maynard. And to be fair, he probably was right.
Come back Puff, please

I just can't get my head round this whole Puff/Merson thing. But my lord is it compelling.

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
Has anyone considered the possibility that Puff was merely c&p'ing Merson's thoughts but forgot to put his name to it?
Either way, let's not start a witch-hunt.

Sorry boss, had considered the possibility, but the other option is much more comical!Up the Junction wrote:Has anyone considered the possibility that Puff was merely c&p'ing Merson's thoughts but forgot to put his name to it?

Always thought Puff was a bit of a tw*t (in a non witch hunt fashion).
P.S. Don't think Merson is articulate enough to be Puff

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
Just to add to this record breaking thread that Slav has done a top job in keeping the likes of Payet and Ogbonna and barring Sakho, dropped what needed to be dropped.
I'm sorry to say but we still needed a CB because I don't rate Collins as much as some.
And Puffy.... That's a bit of a shocker. He can't be Merse, because he pronounced all the foreign names quite cleanly.

The words had been altered slightly, so either they're the same person, Puff was passing Merson's words off as his own, or Puff read Merson's article, agreed, then rephrased it himself.

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
Yes, but who the f would quote Merson on a West Ham forum and pass it off as their own work?? Surely a moderately intelligent pundit would have been a better option. Or perhaps a self informed view?

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
Needing eight homegrown players is a misconception. (We already had eight senior homegrown players in the squad anyway).the pink palermo wrote:Sam Westley will be the;lowest paid "player" at West Ham .His inclusion in our squad will allow us to meet the home grown quota, fulfil the 25 man rule and stay within the FFP rules .
He's never going to play ...
The squad rule is a maximum over 25 senior (over-21) players, of which no more than 17 can be foreign-trained players.
A club doesn't need to fill all 25 places in the squad (see Chelsea a couple of years ago and maybe Man City who couldn't fill the eight homegrown slots). However it cannot leave a blank if there is an eligible senior player to fill that space, (hence Westley had to be named unless the club released him, as they did Poyet).
Westley might be the lowest paid squad member, but he's not as lowly paid as not naming anybody.
And not naming anybody would allow us to have a vacancy to sign a free agent if needed / desired.
His inclusion in the squad truly is shocking nepotism.
EDIT
Unless he's being used for money laundering!

You HAVE to name 25 players if you can. We had a 25th player to name, we had to name him.

Or release him.thejackhammer wrote:You HAVE to name 25 players if you can. We had a 25th player to name, we had to name him.
At 22 he has managed to sit on the bench twice (unsused both times, over a year ago in the pre-season first Europa Cup qualifying round), and been out on loan at a VVV where he made one sub appearance.
In the meantime all other dev squad players have been released (including Poyet on the same day Westley was named in the squad) or loaned out once they have become over-21 players.
I don't believe he was even in the Dev Squad on merit, yet he's managed to get a contract as a senoir player.

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
It stinks Crossed Hammers. I don't like it one bit either and don't take well to Terry Westley either. Something not quite right there what with Carr shunted out of the way for him and little titbits like the Kieran Bywater fall out.
Sam Westley by rights should be sent packing along with the other failed youngsters and seek his 6th Club elsewhere without his dad holding his hand and paid for the privilege when he's clearly not good enough for our 25 man senior squad having not proved himself whatsoever at Int youth level or out on loan at his age.

Agree with this. I can't think of the last time we sold a player that I desperately wanted to stay.SirStoneyOfBow wrote:Just to add to this record breaking thread that Slav has done a top job in keeping the likes of Payet and Ogbonna and barring Sakho, dropped what needed to be dropped........

I would believe it if he hadn't changed a few words. It was like one of my old uni papers. Anyway, no hard feelings.Up the Junction wrote:Has anyone considered the possibility that Puff was merely c&p'ing Merson's thoughts but forgot to put his name to it?

It was funny as hell though. I hope he returns soon.

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
I think holding onto the big players was a bonus this window. I think if Creswell hadn't been injured their may have been a push on for his signature.
