I only just realised that those latest comments made on Facebook that were translated from Portuguese were not made by the SL director the one that reads as calling Sully out to prove his comments on Carvalho deal... that response was written by their press officer .... for me anyway, that only adds to my conviction that Sully has been caught out with his comments ....

That's because initially I couldnt understand a director like the one at SL who can be a bit of a loud mouth ( a sort of Spanish David Gold) coming out all guns blazing and taking the risk of being caught out him self and knowing how very damaging to him that would be ... if he wasn't sure of himself ... but in this case it was the club press officer ... who I doubt very much would have been so categorical if they weren't absolutely sure that was the case as it would/could end up be very damaging to the clubs image... I find that adds weight to the idea Sully has been caught out with this...

I don't really care who did what or said what, we are bottom of the league having leaked 10 goals, and the manager and the owners knew this and yet they let the transfer window close. So we move forward with what we have which after the Newcastle debacle is very worrying.

After last season I was thinking who would be this year's Sunderland. When we brought in our four signings, I thought that would be enough to see us not struggle. I can take the 4-0 at Man Utd, the fightback at Southampton was very encouraging despite coming away without a point. The Newcastle performance should have set off alarm bells, it was one of the worst I've seen in recent years. Maybe Zola against Wolves bad.

I see the Huddersfield game as a pivotal game. A professional win and we kick start our season. A loss, which I think is a real possibility, then we are this season's Sunderland. I hope I'm wrong and we win comfortably. I mean, if we can't beat the play-off winner at home, then who can we beat (except Spurs)?

I think most of the other 12 teams (not counting the top 7) improved with their signings, so much so that I really can't pick three teams that are guaranteed to finish below us. I see a new manager and panic buys in January.

I suggest we play two up front against Huddersfield, Hernandez alone doesn't work. If Sakho has his head on straight, start him.

I guess I do blame the owners, I can't understand them risking relegation over saving a few quid.

Exciting time ahead, for the wrong reasons!

These chancers will. We'll still get another £100m through the Sky TV money when we go down, or rather he will and he will still plead poverty. Ridiculous to think that last season, Sunderland who won just 7 matches all season and finished bottom of the Premier League received more money than Bayern Munich !

Not an expert in these things - but surely you would submit an actual bid to the club you are buying from
Not the agent!
As then leaves you open to tapping up etc.

Smells like yet more bull****

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but just seen this about Leicester's move for Adrien Silva. It seems that it was agreed at the last minute on Deadline Day but is still subject to international clearance.

Is there any reason why we couldn't have done this with Carvalho?

Find me the proof then yes.

As a slight aside, Bilics next press conference is going to be very revealing. I want to also hear his version of events too.
No, it won't. Bilic may be doing a rubbish job as manager at the moment, but he is an infinitely classier guy than the people who run our club. He won't call them out while still manager. That may be why they hired him in the first place in fact; he is too nice and won't moan even when he's being thrown under a bus.

Look at Sullivan's own comments on the official site. He says that Slav wanted Carvalho but we didn't pay the asked-for amount for him. Even if you believe Sullivan it's pretty damning as it shows they weren't willing to go the extra mile to get a player the manager identified as needed.

Oh and I remember you giving credit board for 'almost' getting players like Bacca and Lacazette last summer. Are you really going to be fooled into bigging them up for 'almost' getting Carvalho?

As I said at the very beginning of the summer: evidence of a willingness to spend money is by spending money, not by saying you tried to. 'I almost got you a diamond ring love, but just couldn't manage it. I tried really hard though.'

One (small) positive here is it has shown the C&H site to be the club mouthpiece we all suspected it was. 'Sullivan exclusive' eh? Pretty sure a lot of their articles are sourced similarly...

Via the players agent ?

Tell your client we will pay his current employer a chunk of money for your services

As for the written bid "we also put in" , let's see it then , if only for CNR sake .He's quite keen on proof .

To me it sounds as if we were sounding the player out without ever actually agreeing a fee with his club, which begs the question, did we ever actually make a bid .

it's an utterly disastrous situation for the club, but not one without positives for the support. we've got an absolute undeniable smoking gun about sully's lies and we've got exwhuemployee and sully's other acolytes exposed for the shills they are.

there's no veneer of bad luck or even base incompetence left to hide behind.

Sullivan is crawling at this point. Trying to find a way to manipulate words to his benefit. It seems this one might be a step too far for a change.

Want to know why that statement on C&H is clearly a prepared piece from Sullivan? It's the only article that has ever been published on that website that contains no spelling mistakes.

The war of words and counter allegations will change little at this stage but it will be interesting to see whether the Hammers go back for the player in the winter with the money remaining in the bank

More false hope.

Hang on another five months, folks, and then we'll lead you up the garden path again and nearly sign Carvalho or a class player of his ilk.

I bet this is making the PR department sweat, they will need a response to spin this. Be interesting to see how.

I think we can totally forget about ever signing Carvalho now, or any other Sporting Lisbon player come to that, if an article published in today's 'Mail on Sunday' carries any weight. Sporting director, Nuno Saraiva, calls out Sullivan as an irreverent liar and challenges him to publish his offer to his club for their player, William Carvalho. He goes on to say, Sullivan can't treat players as pieces of pornography, ( a lovely piquant dig that one) and the whole thing is pretty damning and may well have other lasting repercussions for him. I think Sullivan has totally wrecked any chances of our ever signing any other player from that club and one is left wondering if as a result of this latest escapade, whether other clubs may refuse to deal with us

Carvalho was treated dispicably by Sullivan, as many have before,IMO.It is quite obvious that Sulli convinced the player to come by offering a fictitious salary to the point that Carvalho did not play for his club for the last three weeks in the expectant hope of getting his"dream" move. The reality is that Sulli had no intention of offering the player's transfer buy out clause.
He has effectively written off this season virtually before it started, just to undermine his manager and clean up the mess his "scattergun" policy made the previous season.
I would have had a certain amount of respect for the Dave's, if they had sacked Bilic at the end of last season - It did not do it,IMO, because he always knew that he was not going to spend and no manager would have come and he knew it.

So many fishy goings-on this window.

Bilic apparently "happy with his squad" directly contradicting his previous comment that we would bring in one more and replace any outs with ins. I haven't actually heard Bilic himself say that he's happy with his squad. Has anyone seen that?

The pursuit of Carvalho with £30m+ supposedly available. But no attempt to fill the obvious hole in our squad with any of several good alternatives, two of whom joined our rivals on loan. That money doesn't exist, does it? Any more than the Bacca money or the Zaza money.

The posts on this forum from more than one board apologist that read like pre-prepared press releases, praising the "good business" we'd done and putting the responsibility on Bilic for making something of our squad. It was like they had their fingers hovering over the Submit button.

What's followed since from Sullivan and Sporting Lisbon looks and sounds like a house of cards collapsing.

On a separate note, the reason why many supporters think this was a bad window is that it came a year late. We needed a reliable striker and a solid right back LAST summer. Instead we got Arbeloa, Zaza, Calleri and Fletcher. We've plugged those holes this summer, but since then, new holes have appeared, most obviously in central midfield where even crap teams like Newcastle skip through us like joyful spring lambs.

This ship is sinking, and all we can do is watch.
