Ludo easily these are worse

Huddersfield - Awful squad will go down and the Wagner silly hype will stop
Burnley - Dyche is performing miracles after losing two best players as well
Swansea - Lost two best players in Sig and LLorente
Newcastle - Pretty meh players yet rafa got them looking reasonably solid
Brighton - No one impressive
Bouremouth - Concede for fun, Billic esque scorelines

That's without the middle group of like Stoke, West Brom, Palace etc who we are equal to

But many of the above have a team spirit, a sense of direction without all the other crap that seems to be at this club.

Swansea are the only one from the above that I think are looking nailed on for going down, we look shocking compared to some of the above.

We've also played 7 of them (including the others you've listed), and have picked up 9 points (out of a possible 21).

All those teams have more GOOD players than us.It's good players that win matches, not teams of journeymen and mediocrity which is,categorically, what we have.

We've been a fairly comfortable PL team for three years but over the last four windows they have either bought young 'potential' that has not trained on or players whose age should have almost automatically disqualified them.

Byram, Fernandes and Masuaku (plus Fletcher, Calleri) have all failed to establish themselves as starters.

Buying Fonte when we already had Collins at veteran stage at CB was bizarre. Zabaleta's age was always a risk, as was Arbeloa's.

Then there has been the failure to recognise that most of these players appear suited to either 3 at the back, wing back rather than full back or playing in a strike pair - whilst we have insisted on 4-2-3-1 over and over.

Swallow our pride and go back in for Cavallho. I think he would improve the performance of the rest of our midfield and shore up a currently weak area of play.

Buy Luke Shaw and sell Creswell to Liverpool (if they still want him).

Sell Sakho as he clearly wants away. Sell Carroll as he is nothing more than a liability.

Promote Rice to the first team squad and make him a permanent fixture in the team when fit. Put the number 10 shirt on Noble's back and allow him to play as a conventional holding/attacking player. Move Lanzini ahead of Noble and allow him free rein to play off Noble. Buy Wiltshire and do the same as with Lanzini. Get Byram back a.s.a.p. to play in front of Zab.

Get Antonio motivated again and back into the team. Encorage Hernandez and Ayew to play off each other. Get Adrian back in goal. Get Aurautovic gee'd up to run through brick walls!

SO NOT SELL LANZINI OR ANTONIO!

Then wake up and realise it was all a dream.

We need a proper defensive midfielder and another CB. A right sided winger if there is money left over.

I'd sacrifice our entire budget to employ a manager I trusted.

A clause implying the club is actively looking to offload Reece Oxford?

Agreed a good manager sees us safely in mid-table minimum

I like the idea of bringing in Hause and Iorfa for the future. Neither will help us in the next six months though really. Would be decent buys if we've accepted our fate.

We need to decide what formation and style we are playing and approach players accordingly. Also, can someone hit our whole scouting team including DoF over the head with something heavy until they realise that full backs are ****ing important in the current game and they need to actually be at least a small part decent at defending.

That being said our priority should be centre mid imo

Centre mid - Capoue from watford and potentially Colback. I'd sell Cresswell in a heartbeat, think he'd even struggle in the championship at present.

Not many players i wouldn't rule out selling for a half decent bid.

I fear Noble and Reid’s recent injuries mean that they are not ever going to be good or healthy enough for mid table premier league. For those who don’t believe me, think about the fact that Reid has missed more matches over the past 3and a half seasons than Carroll or Salmonds. Effectively they are done. Collins and Fonte have an average age of 34. Effectively they are also done. Carroll and Sakho are both liabilities to the squad one for form and fitness, one for attitude and fitness. They are both effectively done... strangely we may be able to recoup something approaching 20m combined for them, but for all intents and purposes, they are done. Neither Obiang or Kouyate are defensive midfielders. One has to go. Hart is on loan and will be gone come June
That leaves us with a squad that can not field a proper first team, Adrian is prone to madness our only centre back is Ogbonna, who most of us want replaced Zabaleta is 32 going on finished, Byram has missed more matches than he has been fit for and neither Creswell nor Masuaku are regarded as strong defenders. Our strength is in our front 5 when fit, Hernandez, Antonio, Arnautovic, Ayew and Lanzini are as good as anyone outside the top 6..., but we need cover for them and almost an entire team behind them.

Peaches wrote: Today our match day squad of 18 will have 6 kids 21 or younger 5 will be under 20 and will have a combined 400 minutes of senior football. We have the second oldest squad in the league. Reid, Carroll and Sakho are all in the top 6 in the league of matches missed due to injuryover the last 3years, and Collins and Byram aren’t far behind, our average centre back age is 31.3 years the oldest in all 4 divisions. We have no recognizable defensive midfielder, our 4 central midfielders are all hugely flawed...... but yes the squad is fine.
f*** me, that is grim reading.

When Peaches puts it like that, it’s a miracle we stayed up last year and it won’t happen again!

All of those teams apart from Maybe Bournemouth have better defence than ours and that includes Swansea. What they also have is younger fitter players. If you offered any manager in the PL our squad I very much doubt they would swap based mainly on too many players past their best.

Who are the players we've actually been linked with in the media?
  • Ben Arfa
    Jack Wilshere
    Harry Arter
    Danny Ings
    Daniel Sturridge
    ?
Not seen anything about this fabled DM we apparently so desperately need...

We don't need a DM if we add CM, most formations don't have a designated DM. Arter would be a nice add to improve the shape and passing.

I'd offer Carroll and cash for shelvey to start with.
Defoe isn't a bad shout either since he isn't playing much from what I can see

Sell Caroll to the Dog & Duck second eleven and get the cab driver to carry him the last few yards to the ground on his back to avoid injury.
