Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
came on as a sub also against Valencia - with Messi.....
he'll get plenty of time and if he impresses...maybe with El Classico this coming weekend we'll see if he figures in the manager's plans...but he will get lots of offers other than us if he does move - loan..
besides I don't want him here - he's cup tied in the CL

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
We are desperately weak in midfield now. I’d love us to sign Loftus-Cheek on a permanent transfer, he gives us a bit of everything and is only 22 and would be a perfect long term partner for Rice. Also a loan move for Joao Mario as it looks like Sanchez and Yarmolenko are done for the season.
We could also use a Striker as if Arnie gets crocked we are proper $#&@d, unless young Xande Silva can step up, Maxi Gomes is the dream but failing that, perhaps Pelegríni could work his magic and turn Iheanacho into a goal scorer.
We also need a left back, I’d go for one of Junior Firpo, Kiran Tierney, Jordon Lukaku or Lloyd Kelly.
I’d also jettison Antonio, Cresswell or Masuaku, and if we can sign another striker, Chicharito.
In:
Loftus-Cheek 28m
Maxi Gomes 33m
Joao Mario Loan
Junior Firpo 10m
Out:
Creswell 6m
Antonio 13m
Chicharito 12m
That is a net spend of 31m.
The cheap option would be to sign Iheanacho for 18m and Kelly for 3m instead of Gomes and Firpo saving 22m for a net spend of 9m.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Think we should try and get Joao Mario back here. He hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football since the World Cup. Only sat on bench for inter this season and now not even in the Portugal squad, Whatever Inter was asking last summer they didn’t get, and by not playing he’s value is only going to drop. Think he’d do well under Pellegrini in with Obiang and Rice replacing Noble as the furthest forward of the three.
More likely think we’ll bring Moses back in as a replacement for Yarmolenko though.

Lot's of great options being mentioned on here, I think most are a summer window play really and as said I would imagine our budget was spent in 18's Summer for this season.
A great Jan window for me would be RLC on loan with option to buy in the Summer for £25m and for Rice to sign a long term contract.
You could have two key central midfielders for the next decade there.

You are David Sullivan and I claim my £5.
I fully expect us to be ensconced in mid table by January so can't see the point in buying players for the sake of it.
Would rather we save any money available and wait until the summer when better players available
However, if someone very good was on offer, maybe RLC, then that is a different matter

You may want to revise those prices.
Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
I don’t get the RLC hype at all. I also seem to recall him having quite a few niggly injuries over the course of his time at Chelsea and Palace over the past couple of years.
What concerns me most though is the absence of hammerman11 on this thread.

I think he does nightwork given the timings of his posts. Perhaps he can't be bothered anymore.GALF wrote:I don’t get the RLC hype at all. I also seem to recall him having quite a few niggly injuries over the course of his time at Chelsea and Palace over the past couple of years.

He is compiling his list and I for one, can't wait.GALF wrote: What concerns me most though is the absence of hammerman11 on this thread.
Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Honest question as I can't remember. When was the last time we've done business in January beyond a loan, free or a Hughill?
Edit - I've just been looking through our January transfer history
17-18
Hughill 8m - Ayew replacement
Evra free
Mario on loan
16-17
Fonte 8m - Due to injury
Snodgrass 7m - Due to Payet leaving
15-16
Byram 4m
12-15
Doneil Henry 1.75,
Joe Cole on a free
Nene on a free
Few other free
11-12
Morrison, Vaz Te, Maynard
So in short, had it not been for players sold & injuries, then it's practically no business since January 2012.

Pretty much. Hopefully that won't be the case this January as we've got a glaring hole in that midfield.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
It all went on last transfer window didn't it. I think it was Carvahlo over the summer & Dendonker over January, pretty much from Christmas onward the strong rumours we're running.Patito wrote:

At least we signed Mario on loan last January who was a fair decent player. I just hope we have none of the transfer nonsense this window, similarly to Dendonker last season.
Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Byram seemed a talented young player in the Championship at the time. We had success with Cresswell & Antonio prior.Puff Daddy wrote: Can anybody enlighten me why we signed Byram ?
If I remember correctly, we we're ready to grab Bryam on a free in the summer, but other clubs came sniffing around and also Leeds we're trying to negotiate a new contract, so we paid 4 million in January rather then wait until the summer.

I would take Joao Mario on loan again to be fair, we would still need another CM who can put tackles in though.
