a bit off topic but when / if the east side gets rebuilt will they then be able to enclose the entire stadium, this would help increase the noise. However looking at the height of the north and south stands the east side would have to be built across priory road, maybe this is the reason the pitch has been moved away from the east side but if the stand was rebuilt that close to the pitch they would have to redesign the east end of both the north and south as well :? has anyone seen the plans ?

trouble is Bobby Moore Lower is already very popular

If we were to try and get a group of us together in one area then we'd want decent seats

For that reason I'd vote for the area in west stand / centenary lower....being closer to the away fans often adds to the atmosphere as well

This is a very very good idea, as long as the East Stand isn't redeveloped way off in 5-10 yrs. We would need it ASAP to progress all the wishes of the guys on this thread who have put their name down

In addition to getting this together, I think another thing that will definately help is actually getting the PA to get the crowd going. Not so much that JN should be sacked but at least play some stuff to get the crowd going. West Brom and Millwall for example had it pretty spot on with their pre match and half time music. Chelsea are another one. We should be playing West Ham songs on the build up to the match as everyone comes in and takes their seats getting everyone in the mood. Bubbles should be played as the team run out onto the pitch, and for the love of god, I wish he would stop telling everyone to join in at the second part of bubbles. Just getting the PA right could also go a long long way.

spot on LH

i know JN gets me wound up but if hes here to stay which i suspect he is, then if only he could look at how other teams with good atmospheres do the PA

first off turn it down, it only needs to be loud when an important message is being broadcast, not the music, trying to have a conversation in youre seats at half time or befoire kick off is a non event even with the person sat next to you, and all it does being so loud is drown out any attempt the fans have of creating there own atmosphere, the atmosphere in the ground never was a 90 minute thing, it was built up, you can't just turn it on as soon as the whistles blown, turn it off again at half time then expect it to just pick up where it started

chelsea for me have the best PA at getting things going before the game, for about half an hour prior to kick off they play tunes / songs that are relevant songs to the chelsea fans, this creates a buzz in the mathew harding stand and spreads around there ground

our PA has done this once, ok the outcome of the game wasn't ideal, but the atmosphere before the tottenham FA cup game was as good as i've heard it at UP since its gone all seater,

star wars, not exactly inspiring is it, and what has it got to do with west ham, the theme to eastenders fairly naff tune but has more to do with our club than a nerds films theme tune, not many nerds go to football so why the star wars stuff

there is so much that a decent PA can build an atmospere but ours for me kills it every game

as for some of his comments about the away attendances and his prompting of songs well that just embarrasses us and gives the travelling support ammunition, and with our quiet crowds its hardly helping is it

kept the personal thought about the PA out of this as i would rather see things improve first

i thought that cardiff away was fantastic for them. their pa was spot on played the national anthem and a every song was by a welsh band. he really created an atmosphere for the fans to carry on

forgot about that one, let himself down a bit in my opinion in the cup game at half time, when he introduced our team back on for the second half as "and lets welcome back onto the pitch tonights losers west ham united", lets hope our PA doesn't get that kind of thing going on

he wasn't bad at cardiff at home though, with swing low and a few others still too bloody loud though

Was pretty bang on with swing low IMO, nice sly dig that I always like to look out for
Didn't go to the away game, but Chelski is another one that have got it spot on, when I went there last season both ends were active, and that was before the game had started! If you get the crowd started then they will probably carry on, as we found out against Cardiff, once the songs started it had momemntum....

There's no chance of any proper atmosphere before the game at UP because our PA drowns out singing and even talking with his idea of atmosphere - very loud music. Sack him!

Too be fair....he does turn it off/down when it gets to the "Fortunes always hiding...." bit....and singing it as loud as I can and hearing it being sung by just the crowd sends shivers down my spine every time....

Got to ring PA on weds or thurs of this week to finalise the appointment time for Saturday at Derby. Had a very long conversation with the ticket office manager, who is making some info available to me. Man Utd's VFC guy has been in touch and sent me some advice and research. Got a couple of meetings in London this week to get it together for the meeting with PA. I can't post everything that is going on as there is a lot to this and it takes up a lot of time, what with working and going to games as well. I hope it will all be worth it, I think it will . A few more posts with views on the PA's role in building atmosphere and alternatives to help chants and build atmosphere on here would be nice. Thinking caps on please all. The website is almost complete as well. I am looking into printers for flyers to give out at games and have just started an article for OLAS for after the Derby game.

Week off this week, is helping a lot. I've spent most of today sleeping though

Not previously added to this thread as I'd assumed that it would be for season ticket holders only.

If a singing area was a mixture of season tickets and others like me, then I'd definately book my tickets in that area.

Of course it really has to be in the Rio stand somewhere.

Is it just me or does anybody feel that there is a distance between the team and the faithful? They don't seem to come over to us and celebrate goals and frequently need reminding to applaud the support when they arrive and leave. They don't even gesture at us to raise the volume or give them a gee up. It's almost as if they are wary of us. I know it is difficult to sing when they are awful but a barrier seems to exist between the two in any event.

Marlon does. He loves celebrating with the crowd.

**** me he even dived into the crowd and injured himself whilst celebrating winning a corner against Crewe

Seriously tho, he always goes to the crowd when he scores and he gives his shirt away alot too.

Hes a top boy imo.
