Hope we won't hear anything about Tevez until the team is named tomorrow.
Cos if we don't know, then Wigan won't.......

Just dug this out from an old Daily Mail Article
When Everton first attempted to secure the services of Fernandes, they informed the Premier League of their wish to sign the player on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.
The Premier League refused to authorise the deal because of Everton’s desire to make it permanent, which came as a surprise to the Merseyside club when it was their understanding that the deal between Fernandes and Portsmouth was similar.
There was a clause in the contract, Sportsmail understands, that stated that Portsmouth would have to sign Fernandes on a permanent deal if he made three successive first-team appearances.
Everton told the Premier League they would simply demand the points from their game with Portsmouth — a match in which Fernandes played.
The Premier League responded by asking Everton to re-submit their forms, stating a desire to take Fernandes only on loan even though they were aware of the club’s ambition to sign Fernandes permanently.
In other words - "take the wording out of the contract even though we know the truth and we'll approve it". Which seems remarkably similar to the advice the somewhat unreliable Ms Purdon denies having given to Duxbury!
Just coincidence I expect.

Good point!
I just said to my work mate, "**** it, I'm gonna go home, ignore the TV, and go for a long cycle tomorrow, and will only turn the TV on at 5 o'clock saturday, and then I'll know the result, and whether Tevez played", thus saving myself a wrecked head
If only life were that simple!
Since saying that 10 minutes ago, all I've done is trawl the web for news. 5 windows open now...........

FINED HAMMERS CAN FIELD TEVEZ
West Ham are confident they have reached an agreement which will allow Carlos Tevez to play in Saturday's Barclays Premiership clash with relegation rivals Wigan.
An independent commission ruled on Friday that, for Tevez to be available, West Ham must either cancel the third party agreement which exists in his contract or amend it to the satisfaction of the Premier League.
West Ham have until noon on Saturday to prove they have done so to the Premier League if Tevez is to be given official clearance to play at the JJB Stadium.
It is understood the Premier League have not yet received official confirmation from West Ham that they have reached a suitable agreement with Kia Joorabchian, the third party involved in the contracts.
But it is understood West Ham have clarified their position with Joorabchian and that Tevez will be available to play against Wigan.
West Ham's survival hopes remain alive because they escaped a points deduction after pleading guilty to two charges relating to the signings last August of Tevez and Javier Mascherano, who is now at Liverpool.
But they were hit with a record fine of £5.5million and ordered to amend Tevez's contract under threat that the Premier League could cancel his registration.
West Ham pleaded guilty of breaking the rule which forbids the ownership of players by a third party and of failing to provide correct documentation.
The fact West Ham are embroiled in a fierce relegation battle was a significant factor in the three-man panel deciding against imposing a points deduction.
But former West Ham chief executive Paul Aldridge was found to have lied directly to Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore over the existence of documentation which should have been submitted.
The panel ruled: "We are of the view that these are exceedingly serious allegations because they amount to not only an obvious and deliberate breach of the rules but a grave breach of trust as to the FAPL (Premier League) and its constituent members because in our finding the club has been responsible for dishonesty and deceit.
"These breaches.... could have merited a points deduction and thus the financial penalty must reflect that."
West Ham issued a brief statement indicating they would take advice before commenting on any possible appeal.
The statement read: "The club will reflect on the financial penalty that has been imposed and will take advice before commenting on the possibility of an appeal or any further steps that might be taken."
From here.

From the judgement:
"24 Six, we have considered the position of the players
25 and the fans. They are in no way to blame for this
23
1 situation. Of course, if the impact upon players and
2 fans was to be the overriding consideration, there may
3 never be a deduction of points. However, in this case,
4 the fans and the players have been fighting against
5 relegation. They have been doing so from between
6 January and April. They have been so doing against the
7 ever-present threat of a deduction of points. Those
8 efforts and that loyalty would be to no avail were we to
9 now, on what might be termed the eve of the end of the
10 season, to deduct points."
Good to see the commission recognised the West Ham fans who have stuck with the club in the relegation battle. Well done guys!

I, like you Gnome, find this very interesting. To me this is a much clearer case of third party involvement than our situation. We may not have been found guilty of that in the end but it's what everyone was making a huge song and dance about and to for the PL to have not bought charges against Portsmouth yet smacks of double standards.
