Ha! I thought about this when I typed my message out but then in fairness they boshed the vilal 5-0 too and have had some cracking results like against L'pool... If Carroll had been in the team constantly banging goals in left, right & center then I'd agree with you that selling him now would shirley affect the team spirit but he has been in & out with injuries & I believe their more experienced players like Nolan, Barton etc will be able to rally their team together...

Who knows anyways, maybe Carroll was a moody bugger & now all the youngsters like Leon Best will start to flourish with him off the scene? They were unlucky not to beat Spurs the other week too...

How ****ing good was that transfer window? Parker, Green, Noble still here, Ba, Keane, Bridge, O'Neil in, along with the new young kid who everyone was after.

Best bit was, i watched the whole night on SSN not worrying about who we would sign, i knew we'd done ur business before the final day, so was hilarious watching teams spunk so much money on players not worth the price tag. If Carrol is worth 35m, Ashton was worth 50m

what was more funny was seeing fans fume at how their teams failed to sign anyone. *cough* Stoke.

Good Job G&Sv

My point is the Eredivisie is not a good indication of what a player is going to do over here which is why I think Liverpool have not only spent too much on Carroll but on Suarez as well as he is far from proven at a top level.

Unless they luck in and have got the next RVN I think Liverpool have had a nightmare window, with panic buys at very stupid prices.
You're point was whatever Kezman did in Eredivisie is not a good indication of what Suarez will do. If you ran off a list of unsuccessful strikers I'd concede the point, but all I can think of is Kezman and Alves as flops. On the other hand you have, RVN and Bergkamp, and the mild success of Dirk Kuyt. Are there other top scorers in the Eredivisie that have come over? These are the only ones that come to mind. VDV is a leading scorer this year.

Sample size is maybe, possibly, a total of 5 or 6 players. No where near enough to make the generalization you've made.

Ronaldo scored a few in Holland, not sure if he'd have been able to cope with the Prem though.

here here, thank you america. and there are many more examples of players who were nurtured or plied their trade in the dutch competition (where they further developed themselves) before they went to the premier league..heitinga, dembele, vermaelen, alex, gomes, salcido etc.

A bit disappointed that we did not get Ben Haim.

Can we still get him back from Pompey on loan?

I know he is favoured by Grant.

What is the situation with Wes Brown? Could that be a loan deal still to be done?

Carroll for £35 million is just daft........after all the issues he's had in the last 12 months, he's currently injured from falling off a bar stool for christ's sake!

limit is 2 loans from FA teams. bridge & keane, no more loans possible.
and given that the 25 list had to be completed at 5pm today, i doubt there'll be more than what we already have.
ben haim could have been handy, but a good window anyway

All too late for that mate. Now if he was out of contract. One thing that does make e chuckle though is that when they got relegated we were linked with Carroll and several on here said that we should leave him well alone as he was ****. And whilst I agree that he is nowhere near £35M worth, he wouldhave done a job and had a nice sell on. But if he was Nani's signing we would have had to pay a small fortune back to a numbered swiss bank account. or not if he is reading this.

Where does he play in midfield? Could he be a used as a Kovac replacement? And how would he fit into the 25 man squad now that they have been named?

Heard we're trying to get an Irish international on loan, too.

I don't think Wolves will loan Doyle to a rival tbh...
