Birmingham 1 West Ham Utd 1 (26/12/11)Moderator: Gnome Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadNeed desperately to beat them after last season.
I'd take a point, but I think we COULD get 3 if we play this right.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadI think. That we will win. And win well.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadA tough game. Will do well at a ground where traditionally, we don't normally do very well at, to get a draw. I'll settle for 1 point from this, but obviously would love all 3. My prediction, 1-1. Might need to bring on our super sub a bit earlier.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadI predict another boring game. Birmingham don't score many goals. We will never be free flowing with Big Sam in charge or with the likes of Piq and Carew up top. Take your pick from 1-0, 1-1, 0-0 or 0-1.

Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadThe away game here last season was frustrating - giving away a 2 goal lead, and we could all see that it was going to happen. Remember the sprinklers coming on after kick off?
I'd like to think we're a bit better equipped to deal with the likes of Zigic now - hope Faye is back for this. Need to brush up on BCFC's comings and goings actually... I know Cameron Jerome has gone. Who else fecked off when they went down?
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
Bowyer has left and has been replaced by Spector
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadOh yeah, course.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
They also sold Craig Gardner their last season's top goalscorer to Sunderland and he cant get a game there
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
How about the 4-0, the 4-3, the 4-0, the 4-1, the 3-2, the 3-1? They certainly all weren't won by long ball tactics. We can be free flowing when we want to be, it's just of case of being free flowing and direct and the right times. It would have been WAY to much of a risk to play open, expansive football v Barnsley and leave spaces for them to attack when we had such a make-shift team. Sam may chose to play a defensive game because we are playing away, against a good side and still with a number of injuries. If that's the case i'd love to take a 0-1 and cement our place in 2nd, with the possibility of being top by the new year!
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
I'd love it aswell. I just said that I think it will be a boring game but if we win 0-1 I will be as delighted as the next man. I will be there to see the game, but if I'm being honest I won't be expecting too much in the way of entertainment.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
Just had a look at some stats and B'ham have only conceded 4 goals at home this season so you may be right but you never know. The league has chucked some surprising score lines at us this season.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
You never know but I won't be wagering on a thriller. I am sure as it is a 5.30pm kick off it will be lively around the ground both before and after kick off though! It was a war zone last season.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
Larsson (their best player) obviously left. Scott Dann and Roger Johnson both left for clubs that are just as bad. Liam Ridgewell is as good as gone because Hughton wont give him a game. Ben Foster to West Brom. Obefemi Martins left. Martin Jiranek, Barry Ferguson, David Bentley, Kevin Phillips, Matt Derbyshire and Hleb also left.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
Sadly i wont be there but hopefully both sets of fans can liven the game up a bit if it is indeed a dull affair.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadWho are availible for this?
Faye, Carew and Faubert out? Lansbury and O´Brien in, Taylor might make the bench. anyone else?
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
Faye, Carew and Faubert will probably be fit. Taylor and Baldock should make the squad.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
To rely on players with injuries would be crazy IMO, it will only make them worse meaning they could be out of the squad for months. If Faubert was a hamstring twinge on Sat, then it will go unless he rests it, similarly Faye was injured at the end of last week and failed a last minute fitness test, so with only a week I would not say he is likely to be 100% and visiting a cold wet Brum with a heavy pitch will not do either any favours and we could be forced to make an early sub as we did at Reading. At least O'Brien had a rest this weekend
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
Disagree, I think a draw would be a decent result as long as we go and beat Derby.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match threadWatching the Palace v Birmingham game at the moment and Birmingham look very beatable. They seem to be very vulnerable at set pieces. Zigic just coming on now with 20 mins so it might change now.
Re: Birmingham v West Ham United match thread
12,057 at that . Contrasts somewhat with the 34,000 odd crammed into the Boleyn on Saturday .The fifth biggest turnout of the weekend .
