Sam feels sunderful

SAM ALLARDYCE insists he made the right choice in taking the West Ham squad to Dubai last week.
comment on this story 2 comments

West Ham struggled to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace last weekend and were knocked off the top of the Championship.

Now the Hammers go to Cardiff for today's top-of-the-table clash and Allardyce admitted: "The vultures will be waiting if we slip up and say the trip was a waste of time.

"But going away was not for the Cardiff game, it was for the biggest 14 games most players will play in their career at this club.

"We will be much better because we managed to forget about football for a few days.

"From a sports science point of view we have benefitted from the natural forms of Vitamin D which the sun can give you."

Jack Collison is gunning for revenge against Cardiff City today

Championship title favourites West Ham suffered an opening-day loss to the Bluebirds and Wales midfielder Collison reckons the Hammers owe their promotion rivals one in the Welsh capital.

Collison, 23, said: “We want to get revenge. They nicked a late goal and that has stuck – not just with me but the whole of the team.” Kenny Miller’s 90th-minute winner at Upton Park handed new Cardiff boss Malky Mackay a dream start.

Yet Scotland striker Miller was a Cardiff villain in last Sunday’s Carling Cup final defeat, when he missed a last-gasp chance to sink Liverpool.

But team-mate Don Cowie believes the ex-Rangers hitman will bounce back at the Cardiff City Stadium. Cowie said: “He won’t let missing a chance bring him down.

“Of course he is disappointed as he expects to hit the target and score – it’s the standard he sets. I’m sure he will be looking to get the winning goal against West Ham.”

Not really. Quite a good idea in the gloom of Britain in winter.

Vitamin D is a steroid vitamin, a group of fat-soluble prohormones, which encourages the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorous. People who are exposed to normal quantities of sunlight do not need vitamin D supplements because sunlight promotes sufficient vitamin D synthesis in the skin.

It is crucial for the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorous, which have various functions, especially the maintenance of healthy bones.
