As various figures have been throw around and one of the posts on KUMB with a photo shopped drawing was pretty much spot on. I thought I'd see if I could getting anything else to confirm the distances. The figures have been taken and calculated from the Field of Play drawing, which if you look at drawing also shows the 'Football Goal Line' From the front of the OS South stand to the front of the North Stand is 195.29m. UEFA Football pitch length 105m 195.29m -105m = 90.29m. Thus a viewing distance from the front row of lower tier behind the goals of 45.15m 148 feetFrom the front of the OS West stand to the front of the East Stand is 138.77m. UEFA Football pitch width 68m 138.77m – 68m = 70.77m. Thus a viewing distance from the front row of lower tier alongside the pitch of 35.39m 116 feet Click to enlargeFull Full of Play Drawing Click Here

Pop -- those blueprints got me thinking . . . we could have shot putt and javelin events during our games . . . perhaps the threat of players being clobbered or speared might liven things up for us in that otherwise cavernous and desolate stadium

Thought I'd bump this one back up, did the club mention the viewing distances to SAB or show them seats on the track hugging the pitch ?

Space for a rollercoaster around the outside of the running track, a new novel way to watch west ham.

Two of the stats that show what a deeply, deeply unsuitable venue for football the Olympic Stadium is. I don't care about "lets wait and see", these distances are the FRONT row remember. Add another 105metres to 'see' the far goal. And these are the better seats remember?! I don't give 2 fecks how steeply banked the stands are, the view from the back row will be so poor as to make going to the match pointless.

Can someone please enlighten us as to how far away the Alpari Stand and the east Stand is away from the pitch?

I asked Ian Tompkins the same question, more than once, he avoided answering the question. Now I sit in the West Lower, so a guesstimate from the front row to the pitch 10m (30ft), as for the East Stand if it had been rebuilt it was due to move over towards the pitch. Don't look too far really

the picture in Pop's post above is of the West Stand aka Alpari, the gap between the East Stand and the pitch is much farther than the gap between the West Stand and pitch, I'd say at a guess about 45 foot, maybe more, I'm in the Bobby Moore lower and the gap is right in front of me.

So if you get a seat on the half way line due to the fact the stadium is round ish its about half mile.
