Question for anyone that is more well versed on the matter than me.

Could there be any chance that the running track would be ripped out post-2017 World Athletics Championships?

I'd guess after that event it would be quite a long time before we hosted another major athletics event and maybe then the government/OPLC/whoever it is would do a U-turn and scrap the track, making it fully viable for football? Maybe those in charge would think that by this point there would be less of a public furore if they got rid of the track after having used it for both an Olympics and World Championships?

Or maybe, and more likely, I am just clutching at straws in the hope that some good will come out of all of this.

Well let's hope we set the precedent then because I sure as hell can't think of an example.

Juve and Torino. Espanyol. Bayern. Roma and Lazio do not like the Olimpico.

Since Bayern moved in 2005, they have seen crowds almost double in their new home the Allianz Arena with the ground sold out for every game. Here's some comments from Bayern's club spokesman:

"The Olympic Stadium in Munich holds almost 70,000 but our attendances were around 35,000. In the Allianz Arena, attendances have gone up to 69,000 because we can cater for the demands of the fan. The Olympic Stadium has been good to Bayern but it was open and cold. It had little atmosphere and the fan experience suffered. We considered trying to redevelop the Olympic Stadium but there were too many problems. It was not even used for the 2006 World Cup when it was staged in Germany".

No one may have ever said that an arena fit for world-class has to be without a running track but many have sure said that their stadium with a running track has not been fit for world-class .

Let's hope we figure out something groundbreaking. Literally.

So, we can assume that neither LEYTON Orient or TOTTENHAM Hotspur want to move to Newham?

That leaves the other bids to come from either entertainment consortiums who would mix concerts and other sports such as athletics, cricket, rugby or it could be a new Kingdom Hall.

From a WHUFC perspective (if you are a supporter of the bid) this is a win win situation. Any consortium which wins the bid would have to invite us to be a partner..... after first inviting a premier league team from north London, who will decline, and a small team from a neighbouring borough who may accept.

Even after the decision is made there is still some deals to be struck. We are in for an interesting ride.

Definitely in for an interesting ride. Would I be right in saying that these entertainment consortiums would not be a viable winter option like we would be? Can't have a concert in December without a roof. And they wouldn't be able to change that easily if they were only leasing the stadium.

We need to get everything we can out of this process. We are clearly the only viable solution. Only 3 other bids is probably not what the OPLC were expecting. I seem to remember reading suggestions that there would be around 15 other interested parties. We need to be allowed to implement retractable seating as an essential, as well as have free reign over branding etc. I'm not an expert with all of that, but I have enough common sense to know we need to use our position as leverage to get as much as we can out of the process, much like Spurs did earlier on.

As for Orient, living one road away from the ground, I can testify to what a proper pony club they are. Nothing team, with nothing fans. For an almost multi-ethnic enclave like Leyton, I can safely say that there is practically zero support for the club among those who actually live here. Most of the fans are Spuds and Gooners anyway. Used to be some too but let's hope that bridge is burned. To think I used to occasionally go to games... That Hearn's a proper greedy helm.

don't get me wrong, i don't like running tracks and i think that even ****-class should be without a running track, my point is that they can say they want an arena fit for world class football and stick with a running track regardless, saying that "look at some of the past champions league finals, they've been played in grounds with running tracks..." or crap like that

Good question! I think they have tried to tighten it all up but there is nothing stopping old Barry going to court if his pockets are deep enough....

Heard on Talkshyte there a dozen bidders, but cant confirm if thats true, Weren't London Wasps going to bid? And I thought Orient and Hearn were so keen on getting to a new stadium and telling everyone they had "won" when the deal first collapsed, and that OS is closest to them so they should get it, why are they not bidding now? Bunch of morons if you ask me.
