If he payed like he did today most games there wouldnt be any questions against his ability and contribution.

Excellent finish for the goal, definately a push on the disallowed one.

Re: Captain Kevin Nolanmiami
we're just not set up for a 4-4-2. we should play a 4-4-1-1 and just leave Nolan closer to Cole (or whomever). Maybe we would be more of a threat and maybe our forward lumps would get some support. He had a much better midfield last year and with our lack of athleticism and pace he is mostly like a fish out of water, neither here nor there. (in positional terms). Moth But that's the problem. He doesn't do that often enough. See my remarks above. It doesn't seem to at least, work with the personnel around him or our personnel around him. Too many like players. Last year what, he had Guiterez, Tiote, Barton he had a battering ram up front, and my guess would be, (I wasn't able to see that many games last year) he didn't have to do a lot of tracking back or much of anything except stay up top and feed off Carroll's scraps. How many assists did he get last year out of interest I wonder ? That's just an observation not a criticism. But if as I suspect, it means that he needs to do more here, a type of game he isn't "capable" of or best at.
Re: Captain Kevin NolanHis first goal was disallowed because?
Re: Captain Kevin NolanI've seen Baldock and Cole come in for stick for their misses on Saturday but seen no mention of Nolan failing to score from 2 yards. Odd.
Re: Captain Kevin NolanAfter the second half against Burnley, I would love to see Nolan starting in the hole behind two of Maynard, Baldock and Cole.
We showed that 3 in midfield can work, and with more movement ahead of him Nolan would be in the ideal position capitalise on the gaps that two strikers would leave in oposition defences. Sam may like his 4-3-3/4-5-1, but given the derth of wingers and large number of decent (for this league at least) forwards we have I do think 4-3-1-2 should be used again, if only because it forces us to use one of our real strengths, the ability to pass the ball.
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
That's the first time I've ever read anyone suggest that Nolan gets an easier ride than Baldock without a hint of irony...
Re: Captain Kevin NolanC'mon Guv there's a 128 page love in for the Loveable Scouse Scalliwag....
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
+1 Nolan looked a different man with two men in front of him lol sorry made me laugh but its true. Nolan was my MOTM for Burnley
Re: Captain Kevin NolanKevin Nolan is like a midfield version of Michael Owen. You dont see him for much of the game and then he pops up with a goal. He is without question the best finisher we have at the club and this is why he is getting in the team every week imo. Well that and being BFS favourite
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
Forgive me if I missed the criticism of Nolan not taking that chance. The reason I raised it is that BFS has been blaming the strikers for missing chances for months, even when we were creating sod all for them. Now his words sound prophetic. Yet Nolan missed a clear cut chance on Saturday and not for the first time it seems to have gone under the radar. BFS heaping pressure on the strikers just doesn't seem to be working, nor the playing out of position and chopping and changing.
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
Watch closely. His stomach bulged into the back of the defender who fell over. It was a clear foul and cynical use of his pie storing stomach
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
I'm sure there were one or two in the match thread!
Re: Captain Kevin NolanAnyone seen his effort that hit the bar tonight?
World class. EDIT: If he meant it.
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
It was obvious he meant it he isnt trying to flick that randomly into the box great bit of skill and improvisation.
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
It looks like he did, and I think he did, but with things like that you can never be 100% sure.
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
We have created chances in every game this season. Our finishing has not been great on the whole.
Re: Captain Kevin NolanStrangely quiet on this thread today. Is everyone agreeing at last?
Re: Captain Kevin NolanPerhaps he's been pacing himself.
Re: Captain Kevin Nolan
I would have loved it if that had gone in.......... Just to hear all the haters say how lucky it was and that he didnt mean it.
