Frank Mcavennie 2012 Tournament

Postby westonhammer on Mon May 21, 2012 1:23 pm

Any of you guys taking part again this week to see if we can recapture our 'former glory' of last year and take Raggyarse Rovers (or whatever this year's chosen name is) to victory?

Can't wait - should be a great day once again - see you there if you are coming!!!!

Nice one. This Wednesday and Thursday there are tournaments all day, but the 'scratch team' which some of the KUMB collective played in last year (and would do again this year) are in action on Wednesday 12.45 - 5.45.Hopefully there's some other KUMB members signed up again this year for it? I gather there's a team as always entirely made up of people from WHO as well !

Hoping Frank himself gets his boots on this year, think he had a knock last year but I gather he had made some cameo appearances in years gone by (last year was my first participation).

It's a great day though, and all for a great cause as well.

Well, it's a few causes that benefit actually - Great Ormond Street is the main one I always think of, for this and the other events that boleynkid helps arrange.

From the footballforfans website, this is a list (not sure how up to date) of the monies raised so far from such stadium events

'Our stadium events, in particular, give us the opportunity to raise money for charity and we are delighted that to date we have raised money for the following organisations :

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity - £18,097
Willow Foundation - £2,500
Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity - £500
Wessex Cancer Trust - £699
LOROS Hospice - £592
The Prince's Trust - £971
Bobby Moore Fund - £4,308
Cots For Tots - £309'

So real fair play to all that they do  , They really work their socks off to give so many people an affordable great experience, of which so much goes to all these good causes
