Youtube audio

No sound on youtube clips - the audio symbol has a permanent 'X' next to it. Think it coincided with putting AVG antivirus on? Been googling, but don't understand anyof the solutions suggested.
It only seems to be Youtube affected.

Hmm I seem to be missing Flash which presumably I need - tried downloading, got the message that it was successfully loaded but it ain't. Do I need to disable AVG first?
