Or is he?
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)The thing I don't get is the whole apparently dislike to Blackpool from a lot of West Ham fans. Not sure if its the old North/South divide, but I personally heard loads of 'Northern fing monkeys', ' couldn't sell all your tickets fing poxy club' etc. This doesn't bother me and I certainly wouldn't rise to it but when kids and women are around it just aint right. (Not sure if your fans had similar from pool fans as all I heard were 'best trip', 'seasiders' etc sung in the streets and tube)
One of my friends was on the train to Reading and it was full of West Ham, he was with his mate and wifes. Walking down the train there was the normal banter and his mate starting talking to two ham fans, my mate went back to get him (as the women had wandered into another carriage) and a group of 4 ham wanted to fight em. Thankfully the two West Ham calmed it down and told the 4 to back off, but my mate said if it wasn't for the two decent ham fans it would have kicked off. In 2010 they were on the same train full of Cardiff without any issues. A female work colleague stayed in Watford and after the game they were in a pub which had loads of Ham in and they were asked 'what you doing in out pub, do one'. So the family didn't feel comfortable and went. Its incidents like this which I really don't get, we have never had any history with each other so don't know where it has all come from and you won FFS. But back to the game I am disppointed with some of the club comments about the game, yes we had enough chances and should have won but you took your chances so good on ya.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
We (me, my wife and two children) were on a train with a load of Blackpool fans and we were jostled and bumped and called all sorts of names and threats were being bandided around for the whole time we were on the train. We ended up getting off early and waiting for the next one. As we were getting off, one of them deliberately tripped my boy, who is only 9 years old, so he fell over and hurt his knee. None of this happened by the way, but you can see how someone typing this into a message board on the internet can put the idea in the heads of others that stuff went on. In all the time we were anywhere near Blackpool fans, we saw nothing that would constitute aggressive behaviour from either side (apart from the handbags between the two numpties already mentioned elsewhere, and that was just verbals). We saw a bit of banter, lots of smiles and, on the way back, lots of handshakes and laughter as the fans moved around the streets back to the tube station. I must have been in the midst of quite a few thousand fans on the way to and from Wembley, yet I saw nothing that would suggest there was bad blood.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)You are spot on Hammers Dad with reading the tin ter net and believing things.
As already mentioned I was in the family stand and had liquid chucked thrown over us, reports on net were saying it was urine which I was like yeah sure it was. Last night one of my wife's piano students dads said he was sat in club wembley by the big group of Ham and saw them peeing in bottles. Against thats from someones mouth but I still find it hard to believe anyone would do that! But if true I think all us football fans think whoever does that should just be banned for life..... don't care if your drunk there is no excuse.... its just taking the piss (sorry)
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
They were peeing from someones mouth? You're right, that is disgusting and they should be banned.... I do find it strange that the only video evidence of trouble at the game is groups of Blackpool fans beating up single or much smaller groups of West Ham fans. If all this had gone on from West Ham (the throwing stuff and general bad behaviour), someone would have filmed it.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)HD - there was no evidence from Pool fans because they spent all their money on getting down to the game and had none left to buy the video cameras or I Phones
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
Nope. £32m surplus in the last accounts, from which the £11m was paid. There was almost no change in the wage bill compared to the promotion season. He doesn't incur debt on the playing side, but has previously 'created' debt to other Oyston companies. The family were already worth over £100m before the prem - most of the prem money and parachute payments will end up theirs one way or another. Will be interesting to see how long Ollie puts up with it. Last edited by man-of-raisin on Thu May 24, 2012 2:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
Worse than that, they didn't have the dough (apparently) to buy the bottles to fill up with piss to chuck back. In fact they're so skint they couldn't afford the drink to make the piss, to put into the bottles they couldn't afford to buy.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)I made my piss. Did a crossed arms hammers and asked if anybody wanted it!
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
I fear for you not long going by one of his comments stating that he is gutted for the playing staff as the only way they were going to get paid what they deserve was by going up, I feel this will run for you boys as that comment if I was the Chairman would certainly have annoyed me.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)Can I just say I had a great day and saw no trouble of any sort.
The tickets problem could easily be solved by making the teams pay for their allocation whether they sell them or not. If they don't want them then the surplus can be offered to the opponents. I am sure that years ago the FA Cup Final tickets were allocated in proportion to the average home attendance. Ours is 30k + and Blackpool's 12k. It is obvious that if you put the majority on general sale it will lead to problems and these were all Blackpool's fault. I am sure we could have sold the ground out. Final point. The "graceless" sour grapes from Blackpool posing as victims when we beat them THREE times and an aggregate 10-2 not to mention 11 points more surely settle which team deserved to go up. They are behaving like a bunch of Scousers! A pity they are not like the Preston fans after we beat them in the play offs and who were very sporting. I am afraid Blackpool have taken a dive in my estimation.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
Me neither. Apart from a group of Blackpool chavs giving everyone the 'winker' sign as we emerged from Wembley Park, and a few idiotic 'northerners' comments aimed at a middle aged woman and her kids after the game from one of our lot, I thought everything was good-natured and so I was surprised to hear some of these stories. I was pleased to get Blackpool as playing Birmingham would have been a very different atmosphere.
Can't say that I agree with that (I'm sure you don't either, but was just quoting a previous methodology)....imagine if we played Man Utd in a Cup Final and they got twice our tickets. However tickets should be made available based on whether the existing season tickets holders + members + plus X number for general sale will be expected to fill an equal allocation. If not then they should be reallocated.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
I agree – a few things were said by Ollie (e.g. his Mirror column) before he went on holiday that sound like the prelude to a row. As far as the wages go, Ollie said his budget was the same as the prem – about £7m. We had just over 30 pros on the books, plus half a dozen loans, all out of that £7m. A few kids in that of course, and a few got loaned out. If it was shared equally, that’s about £4k/week each, but of course it isn’t – we think Fergie and Phillips are easily top earners on about £15k ... Ollie has said their wages did give him a bit of a problem with the rest. Think Nolan on his own is costing you £50k/week … £2.5m a year? Anyway, with a £32m surplus last year and only Fergie who cost a noticeable fee (£700k rumoured) last summer, you can see why he feels hard done to.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
I came from perth Western Australia, Is that far enough Mr Oyston
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
Just over two hours on the train for me, not far, but more than just a tube ride as per Oyston's fantasies.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)Four hour round trip with Carib Jnr by car for us.
Tried and failed on both our previous playoff finals but on each occasion the 8000 mile round trip proved too big a challenge! Having said that, I wouldn't have met Chalks if I had travelled This time round wild horses wouldn't have kept us away. Tried First Great Western but ridiculous costs stopped that idea so got in the car and drove to wembley. Sadly the tube hasn't quite extended to Gloucestershire.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)I came from deepest darkest Cambridgeshire.
Not too far but more than a hop on the tube.
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)
The problem was started on the websites...the Blackpool fans (and team) played the "arrogant Cockney" card a bit too much Then we had the sad situation of loads of fans missing out....whilst you lot could buy 90 tickets per person ...yet you really coudn't see how that was seen as being unfair. Then we had the totally stupid and arrogant way Backpool FC allocated them tickets... No-one up north could understand how short the tickets were down here...we could have filled Wembley twice over easily. You want me to start on how we feel now mate
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)JFK - London (Wed night) - Chelmsford - Wembley - Heathrow (Mon am) - Amsterdam - Singapore - Jarkarta - Kuala Lumpur (where I write this) - Seoul (Monday pm) - Tokyo - JFK (get home Thurs morning).
So lucky enough to be able to work last Saturday afternoon into a two week business trip!
Re: Karl Oyston on Blackpool tickets (Blackpool Gazette)Then we had the totally stupid and arrogant way Backpool FC allocated them tickets...
Including the blatant lie from them that they only sold to those with previous booking history.
